Difficulty Choosing Class

So, I played Hunter all throughout the beta, and am excited for the Bladedancer subclass, so I have access to invisibility. I've always loved sniping and stealth, as my name suggests, and I also like the look of the Hunter's armour the best. Something's making my decision more difficult, though - the Titan Defender. In addition to enjoying a stealthy type of gameplay, I also like to be able to protect my teammates, especially with a shield such as the Titan Defender's Ward of Dawn. I don't really want to create 2 characters, because I want to feel connected to my character. For me, I think having multiple would take away from that. I want to know, on day one, what class I want to play, because I don't want to have to go back and create another character. Yet again, I think that would somewhat kill the immersion. I'm torn between the two classes right now, and am open to any input. I'm a bit of an indecisive person... Note: I'm planning on playing PvE the vast majority of the time. Edit: It seems like whenever someone suggests Hunter, I always want to say how the Titan might be a better choice because of *insert reason here*. It seems like my desire to defend the Titan class may be telling me that I prefer it...

  • Hunter Bladedancer, you can turn invisible by crouching. CROUCHING! Ultimate supportive sniping tool.

  • I have a feeling Defenders will be highly sought after as everyone will mostly go for offensive tactics. The real questions you should ask are: 1) Do I want to Defend or Attack more? 2) I'm I going to play alone or with people, not mostly but preferred. Another thing you really have to look at is ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH TO BE A TITAN!?!?! lol

    • During the beta I made all 3 classes, took all to lv 7, deleted all, made all 3 again with different faces, took them to 5, deleted 2, made new faces, and took all three to 8. Point? Why choose, make multiple characters.

    • If you have the time you should just make 2 characters. Whenever you get bored of your choice just make the switch. You shouldn't limit yourself because every class is awesome. I really like the defender too. "Keep all arms, feet, and ghosts inside the barrier"

    • One way to solve this you want to be the Titan and the Hunter so you be the one left out WARLOCK!!! I will stick with my hunter.

    • Defender is the thing I'm most interested in, at the moment. I suspect that they'll almost always be welcome in pve groups, once people figure out what they can really do.

      • Why not experiment with both? I'm in the same boat as you are, I know which class I really want to start out with, and I definitely want to try and stick to that one main character, but it's really tempting to experiment with the other two classes. And if you feel strongly about one or the other you can always delete the class you felt less moved by.

          • Sorry didn't read the whole thing ok if you want to play blade dancer a lot and you will play PvE most of the time then pick the hunter the titans shield is best for PVP especially for control that we played on the beta hope you like my answer my fellow guardian.

            • And blade dancer is good for hiding behind corners for PVP and then you sneak attack and for PvE you can wonder around invisible and sneak attack the enemies I might use a hunter but I rather the warlock I hope you like my post my fellow guardian.

              • If your going to do pve most of the time then maybe you should probably choose hunter, but I wouldn't mind another fellow Titan to join Destiny. It's really all up to you.

                • I'm in the same boat.. torn between the Warlock and Hunter. I like the Hunter best because I love the melee and the throwing knife.. but I just think the cloak is absurd. It looks like you have a beach towel wrapped around you. I'm thinking I'll just stick with the little bandanna thing you start with. The cloak doesn't act as a shield or serve any purpose.. does it?

                  • Dude me to I love the hunter because of how swift and agile the class is mostly in pvp but I also like getting down into the nit and grit and going heavy with the titan.....The Choices are making me lose my mind!

                  • I would advise the Hunter would be best for you. You get to snipe (I know, I know, all the classes can, and just as well), which is a great way of protecting allies, but from more of a back seat approach. And the stealth aspect of Bladedancer. Also, if you really will be doing tons of PvE, Bladedancer is all you could ever hope for. The one upgrade to the super that bursts around you when you press a button, combo'd with the upgrade that extends the duration on kill will give you an unlimited super until you run out of stuff to maim. I believe this was showcased in either the Mars, or Venus trailers, but it might have been the release video as well. Also: capes. With hoods. ...And armor made from your foes corpses. That's just epic! I, a male Awoken Hunter, hope to meet you in the jungles of Venus, or the caverns of the Moon, Guardian. See you starside.

                    • This is what I think I'm going to do go hunter and when you play pvp use golden gun when on PVE switch to the 2nd subclass the 2nd one is good at a.o.e as the golden gun is perfect for pvp but that's just me

                    • IF you want to be crucial in raids go sunsinger or defender, IMO I'm going to be playing bladedancer or sunsinger 1st I love the hunter double jump but i can see that adapting to glide won't be too hard

                    • I had the same problem as all the classes are appealing in some way. I eventually decided to stick with Hunter for a good number of reasons. Everyone has to weigh the pros and cons of each class and decide what best suites their play style.

                    • I am going to be a Titan Defender..... if I had to say go with what you love..... I think by your very name you like stealthy plays and I think the Blade Dancer will be very satisfying for you. Try to come up with some builds for each and determine what you want to do. If you want to be a mobile Orb of Light generating Bastion, you want the Defender. If you want to be a flexible high damage potential fighter up close and personal feeding off of your opponents light the Blade Dancer is your jam.

                    • As a hunter fan im a bit biased, but if you really want to be high in demand I think the Defensive Titan subclass may end up being the most crucial class to be especially for end game PVE.

I find that the best way to answer these kinds of reflective questions "what best suits me?" is to lie down at night, close your eyes and touch yourself.
hahah, jk. When you are in bed, imagine everything those classes can do and what you've seen, imagine yourself doing that in game and doing a LOT of it. Whichever of the two you imagine playing seems more appealing in that moment, should give you your answer. Also, you can tell yourself that you are going to pick a class and then immediately gauge how jealous you think you'll be watching the other class play. Whichever one you think you'd be more jealous of should be the one you pick.
• Personally, I will choose the defender subclass, go ahead and choose hunter if that fits your style, and it seems like it does
