I think we are losing sight as to what "competitive" means

A lot of you are complaining about Destiny not being competitive because of no private matches. You are fools. A group of 6 organized players vs another group of 6 organized players is no more competitive than a group of 6 regular players vs 6 regular players. All forms of a Player vs another Player is competitive. Im sorry, but technically, (gotta love technicalities) a clan of 6 is still random. 6 random people form together to make a clan. 6 random people form together to make a clan. They fight each other. No matter how you look at it, everyone can be considered random players. Oh, my clan of 6 vs your clan of 6? Guess what, you dont know the enemy, they are still randoms. Randoms who just formed together. The reason Destiny is labeled Competitive by Bungie is because, the gameplay itself is competitive. Gameplay in games like CoD is shit, but somehow its considered competitive when Two groups of 6 organized players play in a Private match? As compared to two groups of six playing in player match? One is no more competitive than the other. But, back to why Destiny is competitive. Its competitive because the higher level you go, the crazier shit gets. Imagine a lobby of max leveled players (somewhere in 30s?) with legendary/exotic gear with full out skills and abilities fighting? The verticality of super jumping as Hunters or Gliding as Titans/Warlocks, the nova bombs or titan smashes or titan bombs, or golden gun, bladedancer, all being use. Nonetheless the perks of your weapons and armor and self adding in that intense play. The idea of competitive is 30 something vs a lvl 5. That lvl 5 has to majorly compete. I know dmg and armor ratings are turned off for normal crucible; but weapon/armor/self perks are very much enabled. But the verticality will add much more competitive play than your shitty horizontal CoD. Again, a Private match of two 6 player teams is no more competitive than a Player match of two 6 player teams.

technicality is not of the matter in that case. Words develop their own meaning in communities, ranging from friends to whole languages, all the time. Technically "Spiel" is just German for "game" yet it means something completely different in English. In the gaming scene competitive means organized. Random matchmaking is not organized. Matchmaking would be fine if there were ways to matchmake team vs. team, with ranking in place, seasons would be advisable as well to make it entry friendly. Random matchmaking will take levels and maybe even gear into consideration so you won't be pitted against lvl 5s, verticality also isn't an argument with Titanfall already available and Advanced Warfare coming this year.
