The Ultimate Stop Making Excuses for Bungie Thread! Stop Supporting Less Features Thread! Stop Being Selfish Thread!

I will be playing this game regardless, just giving the selfish opposition something to think about, no ones going to die because these features aren't included however no ones game experience will be effected negatively if they are I made this thread to try and get a clearly understanding to why so many people on this forum choose to oppose features that would not hurt their gaming experience, but would heighten others. I want to first start with private matches... Why in the heck would anyone care to combat the implementation of private matches... They're private, so what if you never did them, so what if you don't like Clans or MLG or whatever, what does that matter, they are private, which means you wouldn't have to have anything to do with the matches in anyway. People who argue against them adding them are selfish and make no valid points, because the matches are private and don't effect them in anyway. Next we have match-making, now look I was actually ok with this feature being taken out of raids and agreed that teaming with real friends on Xbox live/PSN would make for a better experience but then I thought about how this game doesn't even have a basic social feature like proximity chat were people can communicate on the fly with new people, therefore making new friends in Destiny a little more challenging (because people don't accept fireteam invites from randoms) so my question is how does having match making in raids stop 6 friends from still teaming up and doing raids together? The answer is it doesn't therefore not having match making in raiding isn't to anyone's benefit really it's just one less feature, just because... Proximity chat... Single mute button, toggle off completely button, doesn't cross over private chat or fireteam chat... Someone explain to me with all that in place how would proximity chat hurt your gaming experience when you can simply toggle it off and never use it?

  • How many rude, foulmouthed, randomly spiteful narcissists do you think the average user is going to take the time to mute before they just get disgusted and turn the whole thing off permanently? Over time, this would lead to a situation in which the majority of people who would still have prox chat on would be the ones randomly screaming abuse and bad pickup lines at each other. At which point new players would fire up the game and walk into an established culture, wherein the people who might be worth making friends with will ignore them by default, and the immature jerks will feel free to say anything to anyone, because they know they can get away with it. That'd be a great way to keep new players coming back, right? A whole gaming ecosystem full of willfully isolated pleasant folks, liberally sprinkled with loud, random, vicious, childish trolls: "Welcome to the tower for the first time, Guardian, this is where you'll... nice tits bitch get rekt noob mom bring me a coke turn that goddamn music down join my clan join my clan join my clan huntard i did my chores 1v1 me bro i just teabagged you learn2mute fggt pools closed gottamic gottamic gottamic -blam!- you then scrub xbox off" So much for that teen rating, I guess. Sort of like having #destiny right in your ear on blast while you try to play the game, only worse, because the people who are actually worth talking to can't even hear you. If you want to think about this issue in terms of game experience, ask yourself which is more important: One individual or another getting feature X, or the in-game experience being a non-hostile one for all new players as months and years go by?

    • I agree with you about private matches and proximity chat, but not on raid match-making. Generally when a random group of people get together in a raid they don't know each other, don't communicate, and a sometimes don't even know the fights. Fights can be explained, but with no communication it makes it real hard to call things out. It can be done, but most people don't have or won't take the time to go through the many hours of failing on a fight. This is fine, but usually when randoms don't complete a fight, they cry for a nerf. Bungie eventually gives in and makes the raid easier so everyone can do it, and everyone gets the best gear in the game. Then the clans and other groups of people that worked real hard on getting the gear feel cheated (I know I would if I had spent 10+ hours on a raid to get an exotic) when everyone and their brother has a full set of exotic/legendary gear.

And you know what else. There is a game that already tried the Proximity Chat thing. It was a game called Fable 2 and Fable 3. And you know what. Maybe... 1 out of 1000 people would actually be talking at any given moment. Think about that. A Game with Proximity chat catered to these Filthy Casuals you are all so worried about (Fable is a Casual game). And yet it proves you all wrong in your assumptions of what you think proximity chat will become. And you know what, the people who played games like Fable, are the same people who played games like Halo the same people who are going to play games like Destiny. Everything, The No MM for Raids, you fight it based on assumptions. The lack of Private matches, you fight it based on assumptions. The Proximity chat. Nothing but assumptions. Until you people can actually prove that these things would "Interfere" with your enjoyment, STFU!

Have you thought that some people opposed those features because they don't think they are necessary either? Maybe its not people 'blindly following Bungie" or "people making excuses for Bungie." Most people can think for themselves, and the ones that may "blindly follow Bungie" have reason to trust them for what they have done in the past.

      • Agree with everything you said man. We need to get Bungie to realize that private matches, rains finder, and even proximity chat are very important.

      • I don't recall Bungie ever promising private matches, so how could I (or anyone for that matter) have been outraged when they revealed that there would be no private matches? I hope they implement private matches someday. With the projected 10 year lifespan of this game it seems very likely. I guess we'll just have to be patient. It's not like we won't have an amazing game to play in the meantime.

      • Private matches and proximity chat don't hurt anyone, I agree that they should be there if possible. Matchmaking has the possible issue of people not understanding the difficulty of raids - not everyone who will play Destiny is here now debating raid matchmaking, and they might think the content is supposed to be easily doable with a matchmade group. I see you tagged #trading, but didn't say anything about it... I think it would hurt the nature of the game. You're supposed to work for your loot.

          • Might as well have called your thread the official butt hurt thread. Many people who oppose these features have already given plenty of polite and detailed responses on to why they feel that way. By making another thread about this stuff doesn't help anyone. It only wastes peoples time. It's painfully obvious that you don't understand the full effects of things. Because if you did your entire thread wouldn't boil down to "you don't have to use it there fore it doesn't effect those people."

            • Seems like your just going off of the small percentage given in the beta on chat. Proximity chat is more than likely in the final game it wouldn't make sense for it not to be it's actually obvious. As for meeting new people I don't know about you but I was able to talk to people in PvP gamechat and in strike fireteam gamechat it groups you into 3 so theres two new friends for ya.. or the simple solution invite them to a party chat. Private matches, there aren't any that I've seen arguing against them or there is just a few. The game will be great with or with out private matches and seeing as how seating is currently listed on GB a competitive gaming site, there has to be an alternative to private matches or it will be dropped. Best answer is those complaining just need something to bitch about which has been just about everything in the game so far. Some are just unreasonable, can't understand and like a child want to be heard and have their way. Others have just been genuinely curious about why these features aren't in the game.

            • First of all, the majority want proximity chat based on polls, and the other two I don't mind regardless, although they would take up space I don't need, but I got it on disk so I wouldn't mind them.
