The SMG is usually my weapon type of choice in FPS games, it just seems to fit my play style the best. I'm not saying I was disappointed in the fact that they weren't present, I guess a few of the ARs were borderline SMGs, but if the SMG was actually a class in it's own, it would have added a little more variety. They could be given the classic SMG stats, higher fire rate than the ARs (which I feel in some cases need a fire rate nerf), low range and impact, quicker ADS than the ARs and SRs. Their presence would also cut down on the overdependency on ARs in The Crucible. Thoughts?
