No private matches or clan matches (Source included)
Destiny has no private matches at all. Proof provided by this youtube video above, go to 1:15:00 he says private matches aren't in the game and there aren't clan battles either.
This company would be literally stupid to not add this.
How will clans work without custom games?
How will friends play against eachother?
How will any tournament exist?
How will people train for matchmaking?
How will 1v1s be possible?
Honestly without custom games this game is pretty dead, there will be no competitive scene at all because there won't be any chances to prove it. I've played Halo for years to know that custom games are something I do every day and is very important. While this isn't Halo, it's important.

Edit: Stop attacking a straw man and don't put words in my mouth based on what you assume. I bring up valid points. While you may not want a competitive scene in Destiny, it should be there. I don't think Bungie hired a competitive lead and said they would take steps towards making competitive gameplay for nothing. There is a ridiculous amount of narcissistic replies saying how they're thankful they don't have to deal with "competitive players" ruining their game. This is so pathetic.

I would love to have ATLEAST clan battles or something more clans can do in pvp because it feels like the whole clan thing isn't really a thing, its just there for looks

3 RepliesHonstly, I don't think it's a big deal. The only people I know who ever played Custom games were my friends little brothers. I've been in a clan before, and we really never used Custom games.. But seriously, it just isn't that big of a deal. Has anyone even bothered to consider that this game isn't made to be competitive? That it's just made to be FUN? Custom games doesn't = the life time of a game. It never has, and it never will. It's an ONLINE game. Games like this, that are always online, NEVER have private matches. I can't think of a single game that does anyways. I don't get why everyone expects this to be like every other shooter out there.. It doesn't have custom matches. Oh well, move along, and quit whining.

Stop trying to use a population driven feature to support YOUR desires. : Friends can play against each other just fine. Bungie has a small PvP lobby that 3v3. Make a squad of 6 friends and join it. So keep your knickers twist free. 2) You make the wild assumption that this game will be dead because it doesn't cater to a niche group of gamers. You of course realize this is a primarily pve game, yes? The majority of people buying this game are doing so for the cooperative experience. The competitive is just an after thought. Something to kill time between night falls and raids.

How is fighting against your friends preparing you for the random skill and strategic differences of matchmaking players? Clan battles - again are you 10? Hate me if you want but anyone that says "my clan can beat your clan" is immediately disregarded as an idiot. This isn't halo, this isn't cod. It's destiny. Stop thinking it should be like every other game and just be happy with the game you're getting. The sad thing is bungie will probably implement private matches just because you people keep complaining. I swear this community and gamers in general are never satisfied. P.s. My good sir, private matches will most definitely be added later down the road. It's funny though how so many people were bitching that raids need matchmaking because they can't find 5 other friends to join them, while the rest are apparently ready to fill up a private competitive lobby and go to town on eachother.

5 RepliesAm more than happy to wait for a mode like this. BUNGiE have spent a hell of a long time working on this game, trying to create a broader, social experience. And in return, it wouldn't hurt people to be a little patient and a bit grateful for that and enjoy the initial experience, before asking for more features and modes. Especially ones that allow people to segregate themselves from the 'shared world' that we're fortunate enough to be receiving. There is plenty of room for additions over their 10 year plan. And judging by the posts in this thread and that interview, we will most likely see custom matches but just not yet.

8 RepliesHow will people make custom games? Everyone has their own load out and their special abilities so no matter what, custom games will not be fun. Besides why would you need a private match to "train"? Just use the public servers to practice it's not that hard. 1v1ing doesn't really prove anything because like I said everyone has their own weapons and abilities. And the public Iron Banner matches are competitive, for me at least but I think Bungie made the right decision of making Destiny its own type of game instead of making it another Halo copy.

4 RepliesActually the video is speculation. They talk about how private matches "aren't really a thing". Then deej explains how things evolve like they did in halo. As for clan battle, I don't see how there will really be a problem randomly hitting another clan. Heck in Osiris you could redeem your coins at the same time and get into a match that way. In my opinion private matches were boring. No rewards were handed out so there wasn't really a point.

It's even more irritating than the people who complain about every decision Bungie makes. The common defense in this particular case is "but this isn't Halo, it's Destiny blah blah blah". Because private matches are specific to Halo, right? This was a stupid decision by Bungie. It's as simple as that. First no splitscreen, and now this. People are seriously defending those two decisions.

1 Replyremember how titanfall which was a good game didnt have private matchs for awhile till most ppl left then put it in after it was to late.. Bungie if you want destiny to last even for 1 year let alone 10 years you have to give the competitive gamers and casual gamers their basic gaming "needs" private matches, local multiplayer, and all these other things you guys are passing up on or even adding later, dont get me wrong im very excited for this game but if 2 months after the release Im playing against ppl Ill never see again idk if ill continue playing I mean wheres the fun in that
