Private matches?!
A lot of competitive clans have probably been wondering this. Any word on private matches? We've seen things about the game modes but nothing yet on private matches and I know some clans are somewhat worried about this. Some clans wanna scrim with other organized clans. Will Destiny have private or will it be a 24/7 pub match multiplayer?

25 Repliescan we just get a CLEAR answer on this from the devs i swear ppl avoid serious questions like the plague around here. ALL i wanna kno is if Destiny will be my clans game come Sept or will we have to look elsewhere for competition. Is the potential of this game gonna be wasted like so many others?

Please answer this Bungie, not everyone can farm pve bots over and over non stop, some like competition and real competition, not just putting 'competitive' below all your MP modes..

This is what I'm sayin. MP looks GREAT, like the maps, modes seem fun; but w/o a way for my team to challange and battle YOUR team, it is JUST MP, NOT competitive.

10 RepliesSince Bungie won't answer here is my take. Most online games even close to this game type don't have private matches and don't think Destiny will be any different. Main reason is part of PvP you are rewarded for your efforts so they have to keep things constant and fair. If they did do private matches no rewards for playing, and if so defeats the purpose of the game. So that is why I don't think it is in the game.

A thought on the subject. MLG has said they are adopting Destiny. They can't do that without some form of LAN or Private match system. Unless they just up and spouted nonsense without asking questions(plausible, but unlikely) there is some way to make private matches. Lan play seems very very unlikely. That said, it' a tough game for MLG to handle for a lot of reasons.

I think that for now private matches will be more used to force the system and to exchange crucible wins or things like that.

5 RepliesI remember a silhouette next to crucible when I was playing the beta, like how there were silhouettes near the moon and traveler for the planets, except the one near crucible was smaller than the planets, so I am assuming there is something similar to multiplayer there, such as private match.

8 RepliesI can't think of any fps that has online competitive multiplayer that hasn't had private/custom matchmaking... So I don't understand why you are freaking out about them not saying that private matches are in the game.

I had probably some of the most fun with the PvP in the beta, like other games it will get tedious after a while as it does in other games playing a team that's not using tactics/teamwork like they do in proper Clan matches, So I would as many others would like actual competitive features in the game as they generally make for some of the best matches played!

Is be willing to bet private matches will be included in some form. Clans serve a dual purpose for both pve and pvp after all.

Without custom games there CAN'T be a competitive scene because there can't be tournaments or 1v1s or anything! You can't even train or have fun with your friends in a match against them. This game will be as good as titanfall's launch if they don't include custom games and the stay value will be HORRIBLE. I estimate 5% will stay after 3 months if this isn't in. The reason I say that is because I think by the time 3 months is done most people will complete the campaign and raids. Then what? Nothing besides 24/7 multiplayer and nothing else. I thought Bungie would've been more keen on this. I swear on 50% of the profiles I viewed on Halo 3 most of them had MORE custom games than matchmaking games. The other 50% had less, but they still played them. I never once saw someone with 0 custom games played. I wonder why.

I find it odd that Bungie can't make a mention of this in a weekly update. I hope it is included and also am under the assumption it will be. However it is concerning best it has not been discussed by the devs.

If customs aren't there at release, I'm betting that content is a planned release - as a free download - about two weeks in, after everyone is made to experience the Crucible the way Bungie intended for a bit. Essentially, I think Bungie has a bit of hubris (which they've earned IMHO) and are confident that they USUALLY know what is best for their customers.
