Why is the Last City even worried?
I mean they have a standing army more than a million strong. Each member of that army can wade into battle outnumbered 100:1 and still win. Not only that but they are IMMORTAL. Killing a guardian only pisses them off.
No worries your city is protected by millions of immortal juggernauts. With magical powers to boot.

4 Repliesyour only immortal until you enter an area surrounded by darkness like in the story mission...thats why it responds you from your last checkpoint and not by ur ghost. Also the last safe city is worried because the traveler is dieing(thus the reason ghost were made) and the darkness is about to launch another strike... just saying lol

You have every right to be afraid, it might as well be saying the US is being attacked by a covenant fleet the size of the one that assaulted Reach. Be brave, you are outnumbered, overpowered, and you need the light to guide you through the darkness.

The darkness came, pushed us back, even killed us. Society was reduced to the Last City. Any further and we are goners. Ghost resurrected us, but that only meant we failed before. This is our last chance to push the darkness back. Last City. Last Chance. No pressure right? ;)

1 ReplyMankind held unfathomable capabilities during the Golden Age and would've been wiped out if it weren't for The Traveler sacrificing itself to save us. Even with a massive army of Guardians, The Darkness WILL wipe us all out. Sure, we can stop its armies, but ONLY The Traveler holds the answer.

All right, being serious here, we aren't completely immortal. Next, yes, power wise we do outnumber our normal enemies 100:1, but against them all, we are like 1:100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000... a lot of things will eventually reach the last city, then you will be fighting bro. The traveler, the entity that gave us everything, defeated, with our greatest enemy the darkness, coming in the ring for round two. If the darkness could knock out the traveler, what chance do we stand against it with the idiotic fragments who run each other over with their sparrows.

5 RepliesYeah this is what kind of bothers me about games like Destiny where it's like, "YOU are the last hope, if you fail, humanity is doomed!" When it should really say, "YOU and millions of others are the last hope, if you fail...you'll just respawn in 30 seconds and continue on like nothing happened..."

I don't know for sure but if I were the OP I think my point would be that the last safe city on earth really doesn't seem depressing in the slightest. We supposed to be a pubic hair away from extinction but we're all running around kicking a purple -blam!-ing ball and parading our sweet loot. I love the game, but the tone doesn't really instill any sort of impending doom or portray a beaten and battered human race struggling to bounce back from the brink of extinction. Oh well T for teen, -blam!- it

4 RepliesMy biggest concern is not the quantity of troops but the quality that they represent. A guardian controlled by a 10 year may do more harm than good when the darkness comes

Good point, but there are a few problems. The last city is just that, the LAST CITY. the guardians want what they had during the golden age. They want to take back earth and all the other planets they once held. If they leave the last safe city and gather lets say, on the moon, the darkness and or thousands of the hive will wipe them out without the safety of the traveler. Also, if the ghost dies we don't respawn...... soo..... hide your ghost? Lets say they send 300 guardians to help create a settlement 50 miles away. While doing this they don't have the "protection of the traveler" does this mean that if they are attacked they won't stand a chance at defending this place? If that's the case, why not? If the traveler has this great power even while "sleeping" or what ever, why can we still use space magic and the ghost while away from the traveler? It's a bit unexplained.....maybe the full game will go into more depth about these and many other questions.

You know, when they say the darkness almost wiped us out when we had a population of many billions over the entire solar system, with all of our golden age glory weaponry and the traveller at full functionality, it makes me think that a few million guardians and a crippled traveller SHOULD WORRY ABOUT A RETURNING DARKNESS. According to this storyline we are about to get wiped out.

Yeah. For every one of us they have 50 more. I'm not doubting thw Guardians but if our ghost dies then we don't respawn. I can understand why the city is scared.
