Regarding BETA Acknowledgment

Recently Bungie released an official answer as to whether BETA guardians would carry over. Even as myself and many other players would not have thought that they would, to many others the news came as a grim actuality. Many members of the community continue to feel wronged, and feel that there should be some monument to the "hard work" that they put into the BETA. The fact is that this perspective of the BETA is wrong. The BETA served many purposes. It did an excellent job of advertising the game and getting players to want to purchase the game. For the individual player, it served as a reward for those who pre-ordered, and a fun experience for all others who were able to hop on. Many people, taking full advantage of the short time they received to play, put the equivalent of days of time into the BETA, progressing their character and unlocking extraordinary tools of destruction. I doubt anyone who played didn't have a great experience. All the pros of the BETA, and yet many individuals feel entitled to a reward for playing. Yes, it is true that the people who played Destiny helped Bungie by giving them useful data, and even though they didn't have to, Bungie gave players an opportunity on the 26th to earn proof of their contribution. Now, people are asking for more, more for the fun that they had. It is completely ridiculous! So for all those players that want even more recognition for playing the BETA, consider this: playing the BETA doesn't deserve a reward, because playing the BETA was in and of itself, a reward.

I've been apart of the Bungie community for a long time now and this never surprises me. You have to remember, people always think they are entitled to something for playing a beta. Being a apart of the beta was pretty much a barter agreement. You get to try out Destiny (some for free, some paid yes, but that was their choice), and Bungie gets valuable data they need to prepare before release. That's where it should end, but some folks are lazy and don't want to have to work for their beta gear and items, which you'll get just as fast if not faster since you've had beta experience. I honestly can't wait to see what I can get to replace my gear from the beta which'll be as good or better, so no complaints from me. Going back to the Halo 3 days, there were countless players who thought the deserved recon armor back when that was the thing. Granted, Bungie teased it a little too much, the forums were flooded for years until you could get them via vidmaster achievements, then they ended up giving out for free. Point is, you're providing them a mutual service. Edit: Almost forgot, you get your "acknowledgement" via the emblem they'll give you for release. If that's not enough then too bad.
