Is anyone else disappointed that the PVP limit on players is 12? After playing BF4, anything less than 12v12 seems very last gen and slow paced. Even killzone had 24 player matches. At the very least have a big team battle game type like in Halo. While 3v3 and 6v6 can be fun and challenging, sometimes its just fun to jump into chaos and see who comes out on top. Anyone else agree?
Some of you guys seem to think I'm comparing BF4 and Destiny directly. I'm merely using it as an example. I do not want 64 player matches. I do not think every map should allow 24 players. All I'm asking for is a couple maps that can support 24ish players. Such as, Halos big team battles did. Or even CODs Big team deathmatch.

Forget teams I want rumble pit. 12 person death matches where every is trying to kill each other would be awesome. The choas man would that be something to see.
-
Yeah, I'm gonna miss 8v8 big team battle. 6v6 feels too small to fill that gap.
-
I didnt play crucible all that much. From what i was able to see, i agree with the sentiment that it was pretty smooth play. No gaps when im running a super long way for combat or anything like that. Amount of players more or less doesnt mean better multiplayer play.
-
Just think of this:64 golden guns, nova bombs and titan slams
-
To be honest, whenever I played the big 32v32 on BF4. I felt insignificant, that no matter what I did, the game would go on and nothing I did would change the outcome of said game. But in smaller matches like Destiny and Titanfall, I knew that when I started sucking, I was a detriment to the team, and needed to get my ass in gear. Then again, that's just me.

it's more then enough. some players might not be able to handle that many players and I feel it adds a good balance to the teams and reduces queue time.

Did you even play in the crucible yet? The 6v6 feels fine.. every match had a good flow.. hence why you see no one discussing it.
-
Do we know we won't get maps/game types for 12v12 or whatever number you want? Bungie can update this game any time they want. Just picture this: 12v12 Team Slayer on [insert map name here] is now available. Enjoy.

I am not disappointed at all. This is a fair number for the sizes of the maps
-
I don't mind the small team size, but i would love the option of a big team battle gametype. Sometimes thats just what you want to do.
-
This game doesn't play out like BF4 at all.
-
Because they learned their lesson from debating this with TitanFall. Everyone and their mother was concerned about 6 on 6 matches until they played the game and found it was DESIGNED to play well that way.
-
I'm fine with it

Since there's small maps, the lower player count feels okay. If the maps were bigger or had just a few huge maps, I would LOVE to see 24 players. Anything more than 24 would probably be too much. I've played Battlefield 4 on Xbox One and huge player counts made battles feels insignificant, like nothing you did could turn the tides... And it felt like it takes 2 hours just to end one match.
-
if the added an extra player you would keep getting jumped during crucible
-
I love big team battle or death match, whatever each game calls it. I think it's more hectic and a lot more targets to shoot at is nice. Less focus on you as well since there's so many other on ur team. Generally those bug team matches means large maps which means SNIPING.
-
More players doesn't necessarily mean a better experience. The map has to be scaled to the amount of players, so more players on a bigger map means you'll still encounter around the same concentration as less players on a smaller map.

Edited by JustOnePepsi: 8/10/2014 6:56:40 PMTeam Fortress 2 can support 12v12 (and larger) matches, but all of the tournament games are 6v6. Plenty of other games as well, which I won't bother listing. Not every game tries to mimic Battlefield's large scale premise... nor should they. Also, Halo never supported 24 players. BTB was 8v8. Bungie has always made tournament-style multiplayer.
-
Sometimes less is more.
-
Just because newer systems can handle more players doesn't mean they should have more players. It's called balance.
-
Bigger isn't always better. If the maps are designed for 12 players, adding more on some of the smaller maps will make them feel crowded.

They are probably saving it to add later or in a sequel. There aren't a ton of multiplayer PvP ideas out there that work, so I'm sure they are going to trickle all the good types out over time. Makes sense. That's how games stay going over long periods. Look at GTA5. They were supposed to have Heists from day one online and 11 months later, they still don't but say its on the way. As long as Bungie doesn't sit on things as long as Rockstar, it should work out well.

The way I assumed Destiny would work (which is a severe disappointment and one of the reasons I'm probably not buying it), is a giant open world map. Like 50,000 sq miles for each of the different planets, with PVP zones, PVE zones, exploration, dog fighting in space crafts. 50,000+ people all packed into the same world. But linear gameplay and a small 2 sq mile map is a severe disappointment to what I envisioned the game to be.

Edited by Ewan McNeckbeard: 8/10/2014 4:59:41 PMThe maps we have already seen are quite obviously not built for such a thing.
