First off I'm hunter. Always will be. It feels like people already don't want hunters in their raid group. They say because it has no support sub class and would be useless. As someone who has raided for many years I know how important a dps is. Going into a raid with all warlocks and titans with their support sub classes active just won't work well. You need those killing machines. Could be a hunter, maybe a Titan with striker or warlock with it's void damage.
The other thing is we don't even know at this point if the suspected third sub class for hunter is support or not. It may end up being some long rang heal or maybe even something that grants all your team invisibility. Who knows. Not sure why people are already shunning the hunter for raids but I can see the hunter being great in a raid as a bladedancer and I can't wait to see what the third sub class is if in fact we get one at release. It may very well end up being the best support sub class in the game, it may not but the point is hunters for life. Just like a lot of people who think the Titan is the best melee I beg to differ. Hunters melee is incredible.
Note: I am not saying one class is better than the other. I actually think they are all great and I'll play all of them. Hunter will always be my main though. Just like the speed and throwing knife and the jump fits my playstyle. Very fast.

Boss PvE Hunter here. Only fools will deny me!
-
BladeDancer is more centered around pve and Gunslinger is mostly PVP
-
This thread is so full of baseless assumptions I don't know where to begin.
-
Unless the third subclass has been leaked, I wouldn't worry about this yet. They may yet have a support role.
-
Hunters won't be getting screwed since you HAVE TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS. Would your friends screw you over because you like the hunter class. If so, those are some crappy friends.
-
Bladedancer's super is melee, try going into melee range of bosses in the first strike and see how that goes.

Bungie wants 6 people to have to work together, not 6 distinct roles to win. People are too stuck on other games but they need to remember that this isn't some other game, it is Destiny.

ik hunters will be apart of my raid group because the do a good amount of DPS if played right and three of my friends have hunters
-
As a hunter I'll just say a few things in response to your concerns. Most importantly, you will have to be friends with the people you are raiding with, which means you wont get left behind just because of your class selection. If they do leave you behind then you may have some other issues with your "friends." 2nd, all classes are primarily DPS. Hunter may not be able to buff its teammates but that doesnt mean it will be any less effective for raids. Its impossible to say one way or the other at this point but I'm sure Bungie will make all the classes and subclasses very balanced for PvE and PvP as long as you are playing them to their fullest potential (which most hunters do not).

Question: Are you going to only play as a hunter? If so you are limiting yourself.
-
Anyone who goes into a raid with out a dps is a moron
-
Some will wind up getting carried. But the good ones will be *quite* the asset. Once we get our trees sorted out. Just a prediction.
-
I hate to draw parallels. Anyone ever raid with a good rogue in wow?
-
The Titan has one support class, the Warlock has one support class, the Hunter will probably get a support class. I can prove this because if you looked to the left of the second sub-class you could see an empty slot or two. Coincidence? I think not.
-
No way. EVERY class is important in this game. Every class can shoot guns, so I'd say it's more about the skill of the player. I'd bet we see Full Teams of each class finish a raid (ie 6 warlocks, or 6 Hunters etc). Maybe Bungie will set up raids so you need each class but I kinda doubt it. I think it will be more important to have teamwork, and maybe weapon powers (arc, void, solar) then subclass abilities to secure victory. Just my opinions.

The Deciding factor for how useful a hunter will be, at least for me, will be how well the stealth factor works in the game. Bladedancers have so many ways to turn invisible, and this may make it really easy to position yourself behind enemies or avoid an area. You could even use it to walk right up to the enemies and then destroy everything with your bladedancer. However, this all rides on how useful the invisibility is ( if a lot of enemies can see through it then whats the point?), how often we can use it, and how long it lasts. As for a gunslinger, the golden gun really doesn't show enough potential to make it that worth having. Cool, you instant-killed 3 enemies below the rank of captain. the rest of their abilities are generally unimpressive for intense PvE, and their "high dps" can be matched by the high impact Striker or the sunsinger with its ability to set everything on fire. Theres just not a lot of potential from what we know so far.

Where are you getting this info from? All classes will be welcomed into a raid, provided the PLAYER himself or herself is a team player. You are just assuming hunters will be ignored. The game isn't even out yet and your drawing conclusions based on the beta?
-
AI is dumb, which means the active camo will work wonders while the golden gun is massive burst DPS to multiple targets who don't have to be bunched up....don't count your Moas before they hatch.
-
Hunters can be the dps damage dealears
-
I'd rather have the potential to do max damage with the Titan and Warlock super to several enemies simultaneously over having to fire all three rounds in to one enemy just to get that damage out of the Hunter. We will just have to see how it works out.
-
I actually see hunters being screwed in the jump puzzle. Trying to double jump around the corner near Bravo on Venus was a nightmare as a Hunter. Conversely I could also see warlocks biffing it on the jump puzzle as well, since it has a more touchy double jump. More likely though, raids will be made up of 6 willing bodies regardless of their class.

Imagine this. There's a boss, whose shield regenerates extremely fast, but is also very week against the Golden gun. Now imagine a bunch of week adds that come out in swarms. Titan and warlock handle the swarms with their supers, generating orbs of light for the hunter, the hunter generates orbs for the titans and warlocks when taking out the shield. Even with no support abilities, the hunter is vital for that boss.

Hunters are molded for very self centered people and those people are more concerned with K/D Score then the success of the Team they are running with. The Hunter atm has nothing to support the Fire team or Raid with. Since every class is capable of DPS, Hunter are not needed in Raids and should never be used in Raids. Let them go pvp and stay away from the Real point of Destiny. Fighting back the Darkenss and making a difference for Humanity. Warlock and Titans are all any Raids group will ever need.

Edited by Paladdin: 8/10/2014 12:19:21 AMIt will all work out, no worries. Boss' aren't to friendly with CQB so Titans specials would be best for crowd control on the adds that show up. And this is just my opinion from playing the alpha and beta so dont take offense its just what my observations were so nobody flip out lol. At least a hunter can attack from afar and focus his 3 shots right on the boss. Some Titans can pull it off though but I know I spent a lot of time running around reviving titans who got too close to the devil walker and got zapped by its AOE. When I was on my Titan I kept my super for the captains that would come out every so often. Don't worry though we just gotta wait and see how things go, but I highly doubt ppl are going to be rejected on raids because of the class they choose. A super is only a fraction of the damage each class can unleash.

How about who cares what class you are.. It's an fps, if you're good you'll play well. If you're bad, you play poorly. This is not like warcraft, classes won't mean dick in this game. 6 locks should be able to do as much as 6 titans or 6 hunters. Strategies may vary but if you're good at fps 's in general then what class you play won't matter
