First off I'm hunter. Always will be. It feels like people already don't want hunters in their raid group. They say because it has no support sub class and would be useless. As someone who has raided for many years I know how important a dps is. Going into a raid with all warlocks and titans with their support sub classes active just won't work well. You need those killing machines. Could be a hunter, maybe a Titan with striker or warlock with it's void damage.
The other thing is we don't even know at this point if the suspected third sub class for hunter is support or not. It may end up being some long rang heal or maybe even something that grants all your team invisibility. Who knows. Not sure why people are already shunning the hunter for raids but I can see the hunter being great in a raid as a bladedancer and I can't wait to see what the third sub class is if in fact we get one at release. It may very well end up being the best support sub class in the game, it may not but the point is hunters for life. Just like a lot of people who think the Titan is the best melee I beg to differ. Hunters melee is incredible.
Note: I am not saying one class is better than the other. I actually think they are all great and I'll play all of them. Hunter will always be my main though. Just like the speed and throwing knife and the jump fits my playstyle. Very fast.

Doubt it.

There are 3 classes for a reason, they all compliment each other!

So do I. Sincerely, Titan.

Edited by KizzleMyAzzle: 8/11/2014 12:28:44 PMthey hit as hard with their weapons as the other classes and that there is not a supportive subclass yet does not mean that they are gonna be useless in raids. In the end the subclasses (in my opinion) are just a gadget for the character, if you know how to position yourself and use your guns you will be a huge help in raids no matter what class. we dont know how fast we can regen our supers in the lategame content but I think weapon gameplay will still be like 75% or more of the dmg. Bungie should be able to balance 3 classes for raids. Other games did it with 6 or more classes and not the same weapons for every class and "only" subclass-skills. just chill and wait :) every class will be awesome EDIT: corrected little typo

I don't see them getting screwed in raids at all, the only absolute I see right now is one Sunsinger and one or more Defenders in the initial runs until it is determined what is or isn't needed due to mechanics. I rolled a Voidwalker in Beta but come launch I will be rolling a Bladedancer.
-
Yes, dps is important but so is knowing when to revive downed players, when to cast those temp buffs (thinking warlock sunsinger super) for everyone else to get maximum dps out of all the grenades and supers. Some fights in games make it so everyone has to stand together to survive things (boss aoes, scripted events, whatever) and maybe that's when the titans or titans will have to use his shield super. Dps will always be important but right now we don't know enough so just chill out and relax. We have like 30 more days to go so don't worry about it to then.
-
Nonsense. They support the team by killing everything with their one shot kill hand cannon BULLSHT
-
3 hunters in a strike is OP as fuck, just mows down the most powerful enemies in a blink of an eye
-
you can cloack man, nothing beats that =P...
-
lolz dude, "killing machines"?, lolz again. u are assuming that hunters have better damage than other classes? i'm pretty sure it's the same. now about the SUPER it's another thing. the bladedancer might be usefull for killing some, but as for area of effect.... the warlock and the titan are way better.
-
I actually see hunters being screwed in the jump puzzle. Trying to double jump around the corner near Bravo on Venus was a nightmare as a Hunter. Conversely I could also see warlocks biffing it on the jump puzzle as well, since it has a more touchy double jump. More likely though, raids will be made up of 6 willing bodies regardless of their class.
-
I want to play warlock but the hunter jump is just too hard to leave. Especially just because i remember killing a bunch of warlocks that were just floating in the air
-
You are right, let's buff the Hunter in PvE for raids, so he can be OP in PvP and PvE. Making him the ultimate guardian.
-
Hunters are molded for very self centered people and those people are more concerned with K/D Score then the success of the Team they are running with. The Hunter atm has nothing to support the Fire team or Raid with. Since every class is capable of DPS, Hunter are not needed in Raids and should never be used in Raids. Let them go pvp and stay away from the Real point of Destiny. Fighting back the Darkenss and making a difference for Humanity. Warlock and Titans are all any Raids group will ever need.
-
I personally think the Bladedancer will be great for PvE. Gunslinger seems more suited to PvP.
-
I never knew hunter was "the dps class" in destiny
-
another point of view: weapons. all six for the same type all AR, Rockets etc or do we seek balance in it? 2 sniper 2 rockets 4 AR 2 Scout or .... wil they allow HC in the raid? for now there is a better weapon for HC, for level 20 it can still be the same that the other weapons are better.
-
Arc Blade will be there for you.
-
Nobody's getting screwed especially if you join Grimguard clan
-
Sadly I see this happening. I'm a Warlock and for the record I don't care what class, build, or weapons you uses I'll still kill fallen beside you all.
-
Being a DPS is one thing, if you actually did more damage than the other class. As it stands, a gun in your hands does the same damage in my hands. Hunters don't get some magical damage amplifying modifier.
-
I would have thought raiders would be all about DPS...... DPS is the key to everything in large scale MMO. DPS wins fights, DPS is the first to be cleaned of the field, DPS are the high numbers that make fights winnable..... sure I am not intending to be one..... but I appreciate what it does....actually if there was a class that let me combine high Armour with DPS I would be all over that.

Wait.. You're listening to the anti-hunter forum shit posts?
Their just jelly about your cloak
Edited by SaferMurderweapon: 8/10/2014 8:16:40 AMAgain, comparing Destiny to WoW simply because there happens to be "raids" in the game. Note: The classes were designed for different play styles. They aren't in any way better than the other given that they are all being used effectively by a player who's a good match for it.
-
We're making a lot of assumptions about a game we don't fully understand yet.
-
As the hunter in my fireteam, i had the most kills, died the least, and I revived the most teammates. Consistently. Don't believe class determines how you play the game or how well you do.
