I already see hunters getting screwed in raids.

First off I'm hunter. Always will be. It feels like people already don't want hunters in their raid group. They say because it has no support sub class and would be useless. As someone who has raided for many years I know how important a dps is. Going into a raid with all warlocks and titans with their support sub classes active just won't work well. You need those killing machines. Could be a hunter, maybe a Titan with striker or warlock with it's void damage. The other thing is we don't even know at this point if the suspected third sub class for hunter is support or not. It may end up being some long rang heal or maybe even something that grants all your team invisibility. Who knows. Not sure why people are already shunning the hunter for raids but I can see the hunter being great in a raid as a bladedancer and I can't wait to see what the third sub class is if in fact we get one at release. It may very well end up being the best support sub class in the game, it may not but the point is hunters for life. Just like a lot of people who think the Titan is the best melee I beg to differ. Hunters melee is incredible. Note: I am not saying one class is better than the other. I actually think they are all great and I'll play all of them. Hunter will always be my main though. Just like the speed and throwing knife and the jump fits my playstyle. Very fast.

      • Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's going to be a third subclass. I thought there would be, but DeeJ said there's only be two in an update a few weeks ago. (I ain't got a link, find it ya self) Anyway, we've got what we've got, and that means no support subclass. However, that being said, the gunslinger is the only high damage, single target super. It is probably the best non-support super for bosses. I wouldn't say no to a hunter in my raiding party, and I don't think others would, either. Hunters may have a reputation as being the worst class, but nobody's going to keep that impression once the game releases.

There is an exotic chest piece that allows the hunter to revive and be revived faster. That coupled with the ability of turning invisible while crouching would make them excellent for running around and picking up fallen guardians. It all depends how the player sets his/her class up. Everyone can make a great team character or a selfish DPS model regardless of which class you choose. Time will tell.

        • None of the classes are useless, but I don't think any of the classes are really going to be necessary for the PVE groupings. 3 hunters, 2 warlocks and a titan, 1 of each, whatever. You'll be fine.

        • Sunsinger is more of DPS. Defender is the only main support sub-class.

        • My friends will have me raid with them regardless of my class. Why? Because I bring a lot to the table. And I haven't made these friends yet, but I will. Being consistently top in Strikes, people added me, even though I was a "useless" hunter. The friends you make leveling up and then in end-game strikes, they'll be more than happy to bring you along as long as you make yourself invaluable. Reviving. Killing. Holding choke points. Make yourself invaluable, and the group will always make room for you :).

        • Whoever thinks going in with all defender and sunsinger classes will win is going to get humbled. They should still have a mix of arc void and solar supers/abilities. Not to mention bungie has said countless times there is no " tank" or "healer" roles. In sure every class will have its place in a raid.

          • I understand the need for group comp, but I think people are getting a little over zealous. Many are approaching the raids as traditional MMO raids (holy trinity type mindset) when it is not. While support classes will be a great asset, the heart of this game is gunplay, damage, and maintaining survivability. I'll take any player/class that can stay alive and utilize his abilities, over a shit support character that doesn't know what he's doing. Come forth hunters, you can be my wingman anytime.

Everyone is dps and equally so, we can all use the same weapons. There is no tank, even a fully defensive titan would only be able to stand in front of something like a devil walker until it point blank hits you the first time. There is no healer, every class can self heal and everyone can resurrect everyone. Also, the traditional concept of aggro isn't present. There you have it, every build, regardless of class, is viable for raiding. Success depends on your actual skill in aiming and firing and team skills. Sure some groups might synergize builds, but it is not a necessity. If you are excluded based on your class you have encountered one or more ignorant fools. They will learn.

            • Why do people think there's a separation between classes there isn't the only thing that's really different is the skill trees. The characters are what you prefer but the hunter is not a Dps class the titan is not a tank and the warlock is not the paladin/healer/mage whichever you prefer to call it. They are all awesome just some may be suited to your play style better than others that's it. But that's just my opinion there's no need to go spreading it around.

                • I don't know what the fuss is about. There is no "holy trinity" of RPGs here. Each class is chosen because you want to play that class. You wanna be a hunter? Be a hunter. You want to worship the purple ball? Go right ahead. You want to implement the "holy trinity" into Destiny? You go ahead and do that. There's no matchmaking, so build your fire team however you like. Just saying that in regards to raids, a full team of 4 hunters and 2 others is better off than a team that's a man or two short because they are looking for a specific skill set... BTW raids reset weekly. As people before have also said, it's teamwork, player skill, and loot that brings the most potential to the raids and whatnot. Why else would players make class specific clans? Because they can and they want to. If your fire team doesn't appreciate you for who you are, then find a new team that will (btw that's also true for most cases IRL). Anyways, it's less about having the right/best class (there isn't one) and more about the "holy shit balls! That was freaking awesome!" moments that you'll have with your fire team.

Sunsinger is more of a DPS subclass than Bladedancer or Gunslinger mainly because of it's DoTs, the ability to carry 2 grenades and the fact that Radiance boosts all of your abilities and not just your melee or gun damage for a short time. Essentially you will be able to throw down like 5 or 6 grenades while Radiance is active (double that if you gift of the sun.), Melee is one-hit on most enemies, Or if you want a DoT spec running Viking Funeral will ignite any enemy that is damaged by one of your abilities. We also don't know if Radiance will boost weapon speed, Gun damage, or movement speed while under the effects either, but it seems unlikely. Bladedancer and Gunslinger are more of burst damage subclass. Also getting into melee range of a boss has proven to be a bad idea, based on the Alpha and Beta. I honestly don't see Hunters being very useful in Raids. The only real thing I can see them being useful for, is clearing trash mobs with blade dancer, and possible generating a lot of orbs for the team and that's about it. Not saying they won't be able to do it, but stacking the team with Defenders, Sunsingers, Voidwalkers, or Strikers might be a better solution. My ideal Raid composition would probably look something like this: Striker Defender Sunsinger 2 Void Walkers Bladedancer. The Strikers and Voidwalkers would be great at crowd control and also be able to do heavy damage on trash mobs. A Sunsinger with song of flame would reduce all cooldowns of the fireteam, and also be able deal high dps across many different types of enemies, while the Defender would put up a shield to draw aggro or if someone needed to recover. Depending on the how the Defender specs, they could also buff the fireteams weapon damage or give them even further damage resistance while also generating even more orbs for the fireteam. Suppressor grenade is also capable of preventing enemies from using abilities for a short time which sounds amazing when used against a boss. Combine that with the Sunsinger's Song of flame, and the Defender can keep spamming grenades on the boss, preventing him from using abilities. (Defender and Sunsinger are sounding like the most important roles in the Raid atm.) Bladedancer could come into play by clearing trash mobs whilst taking minimal damage because he/she would be invisible and generating orbs for the fireteam whenever Arc Blade is up. Not bashing Hunters, but to me they seem very inconsistent and don't really seem to benefit the team in any way. You say they are high dps, but I'd much rather take a Sunsinger who can deal just as much DPS, if not more, because of his abilities to reduce cooldowns, lay down DoTs on a ton of the enemies, and because he's just more tanky than the Bladedancer. Plus who knows Song of Flame could stack with Radiance resulting in even FURTHER reduced cooldowns for the Warlock's grenades. Hate to break it to ya, but Hunters are looking more and more like a PVP class everyday.

                    • First of all the Hunter is worthless I'm raids. Blade dancer will only allow you to take out large groups of trash mobs. An AoE grenade can do that same job. The golden gun can only weaken a high priority target, then I found out a head shot with a sniper does more damage than a single shot from the golden gun. The Hunter is the most complicated and useless class there is when it comes to raiding. And every class is dps. I can be a sun singer lock and still do as much damage as a striker titan. Your entire argument is invalid sir.
