Hand Cannons are off the f#cking chain!
I've never found myself at a disadvantage in crucible for using a hand cannon (the hand cannon is a three-shot kill most of the time), and in my experience of PVE, the hand cannon trumps all other weapons, since it locks enemies in a little stun animation where they recoil in pain when you shoot them. The only absolute downside to hand cannons are their ridiculously long reload speed. Everything else is fine. Anyone care to fill me in why they think hand cannons suck? Using them is so fun! I hope Bungie doesn't listen to the whiners that want Hand Cannons to be secondaries, it's too much fun to use a magnum halo 1 style!
(Edit; this post was made during the beta, before the Exotics and Legendaries had been used, so it is naturally outdated. Keep posting your awesome hand cannons below anyway!)

In particular I got a Timur's Lash that has: Spray and Play, Flared Magwell (or you can use Skip Rounds) and Life Support Making it superb with Reload and Ammo Capacity in Crucibles. The Impact is great. I also can't wait for the nice changes coming to Thorn as I've fully leveled it up and it was a beast in Iron Banner. Update: You should rename this post Hand Cannon's are Awesome! Update 2: if you get Timur's Lash as I mentioned above and get it fully leveled up. You can kill in Crucible with two Head Shots and Three chest shots! It works the same in PVE in most cases too. Also you should consider getting gauntlets that have Fast Reload Speed for Hand Cannons to get an extra edge. So anyone complaining about Hand Cannons are junk or it should be a Secondary weapons is highly mistaken!

I got The Chance from the Nightfall, and I enjoy it. Probably one of my favorite handcannons.

3 RepliesTime. At their current rate of fire, to be competitive in the crucible would require two-headshot kills. The automatic rifle just kills way faster; number of hits is honestly not significant when it comes to PvP, unless it's so high that it requires a reload.

I loved the hand cannons! I played with all the primary weapons, (higher level ones too), and found that the hand cannon was by far my favorite. The sound was the best, and the way it knocked my enemies down was a joy to behold. I second what SupaStaVince said, you set it up right, the reload speed was insane. I think the main problem is that people were trying to shoot the hand cannons as if they were pulse or scout rifles, pulling the triggers as fast a possible. If you took time to aim, and placed your shots in the right spots, all enemies fell before you. [b]Join the "Frolicking Foxes". We are a chill bunch of 360 players, looking to expand our clan.[/b]
