Could there please be a option to make the HUD more opaque or change the color from super white to something that will not burn a hole in a plasma display. Considering the hours I am sure we all plan on spending on this game I have a feeling many with plasma tvs will have the same concern.

Just wanted to let you know not to waste any more time discussing the possibility of creating an option for transparency for the HUD. I know that the discussion must be so painstaking be it has been almost a year and a half without an update. I picked up the Division and it has transparent HUD elements, maps, progress bars, etc. It also has this amazing feature where the HUD can come up and go down automatically. Guess what, it sealed the purchase for me and it's a great game to boot. I play it on my amazing LAST GEN Plasma tV and it looks awesome and leaves no screen burn of any sorts. So you can stop the discussion regarding your HUD and work harder to figure out where all the gamers are in regards to playing your game. Here is a tip, their are millions of high end plasma owners that stopped playing your game the moment they realized your HUD was damaging their tvs. I'm one of them. I liked your game and would have played much more, probably bought the DLC. But I don't like your game more then my TV. And I think the masses of plasma owners agree.

Soooooooooo knowing that plasma tv have had this problem from day one and people still buy them is a mystery to me...
-
Known and being discussed. Can't talk about timelines yet, but we're aware of your issue. Sorry I can't be more specific. Thanks!
-
Well this is still a problem for me. And now they added that new ugly/pointless progress bar for my next mote! Yay! Cause i don't know what I would do if I couldn't see my mote progress at all times. Seriously, why is it so hard to just add an option to turn off hud? That's a pretty common feature in games. I mean I can take my helmet off now, and change what weapon is visible. Yet turning off the hud is somehow asking too much?

the 1970's called and asked for there plasma TV back. ;-)
-
LED tv's are cheaper now

It's becoming a pretty serious problem on my set. I was stunned when I went into the options and didn't find anything for reducing the opacity and/or disabling the HUD altogether. And you people hating on plasmas are friggin' hilarious. To this day, plasmas offer some of the best picture quality you can find (in particular the panasonic line).

Edited by belldandy22: 10/10/2014 12:55:43 AMVT60 here and i have some pretty serious retention from the asinine weapons/ammo hud in the bottom left corner of the game. All the comments from ignorant people about "this is 2014 why have plasma" is because they are too stupid to know any better. The real question is "its 2014, why are we using big retarded looking static image HUDS on our supposedly next gen, genre revolutionizing, so called epic game?" just take thats stupid shit OUT. if you want to know the ammo, put it ON THE WEAPONS, like some auto rifles and scout rifles. its more immersive this way anyway. And considering you never "run out of ammo perminantly" anyway, it has very little consequence to showing me how much i have in reserve if im any kind of intelligent player at all. Its unsightly and not needed, despose of it or at least make it an option to switch it on and off. At the VERY least do as 3495739478593478 have asked and add the ability to change HUD opacity. stop focusing so much on what the next retarded ass PVP event is going to be and fix the core issues first, the games still in its infancy. some games such as FC2 "not particularly good otherwise" incorporated a very smart way of getting the gamer involved and emersed in the world. Instead of having a UI and HUD from 1995 like destiny does they made anything the player needed to use as such HUD opperate how it would in real life. need to look at a map? well you hold a map in your hand, need to know ammo? check the magazine. etc etc. and games like the upcoming tom clancys the division are attempting something similar, hell look at dead space.... AGAIN another example of how its done correctly. Its clever, its clean and it helps gamers on a plasma screen by not having static images. static HUD like in destiny is outdated and very lazy game design.

I play on a 60" Samsung plasma and it looks amazing, mine is older but still has pixel shifting and I haven't noticed any ghost or residual images (fingers crossed) they do suggest screen whipping and also a 200+ hour break in period where you should display a wide variety of colors, etc for that time. I have done all these things and haven't noticed any problems with any games. It would be nice to have the option to adjust the HUD tho I can agree with that, it does make me nervous after putting in a marathon session. Any update would be appreciated

"What's the burn on this week's nightfall?" "Uh, looks like Arc and TV burn."
-
Who the hell still uses a plasma??? You can get a 50' LCD or LED for like $300-$500 nowadays. Plasma is crap, was back then and still is now, thinks it's more a problem with your TV than it is with the game. I know they can "add a function to hide the HUD" or make it appear only when fighting or what ever but it's probably harder to code it into the game than it is for you to just get a better TV...
-
Plasma Tvs still exist O.o
-
Plasma TV's are better for watching movies you should have gotten a LED TV
-
Though it's an issue you could always, oh I don't know, take a break every few hours.
-
Plasmas are sick, but they get ssooo hot and they are heavy.
-
Use game mode, i have a plasma and using game mode pretty much reduces any burn and also reduces latency (also great for shooters!)
-
Modern plasma TV should not suffer from this issue.

Edited by The Dude: 3/18/2015 10:30:29 PMIt really pisses me off to no end. How hard is it to put a warning on startup screen? 'Don't play on plasma.' Took 2 seconds to type that... What made me more upset was to find out they knew and actively did nothing. I could have saved about $1200... I have everything to be extremely livid about! And it doesn't stop with tv's...its in every aspect of development. Bungie has the eff-its

Well I am officially retired until something is done about this. Even then I am unsure if I will return unless there is a complete HUD change. I am afraid my $2,000+ Plasma is permanently ruined. I may have to live forever with my super energy and my icebreaker :( Note: First HUD in 3/4 years to cause any issue at all. (Panasonic 65VT30 - color calibrated and not run at showroom brightness)
-
Lol wtf!!!!! Who still rocks Plasma???? They don't even sell that shit in the stores anymore!!! LMFAO!
-
Old Skool post!
-
And spend the money to develop a better radar than this half-baked notion. Contrast and definition are childishly limited to a few display device parameters. Also, the PoV perspective far too shallow.

When we burn a static image into our screen from a video game, it's probably time to reevaluate our lives...
-
Solution: turn down tv brightness
