Less time you get to play in each sitting just means that you get more real world time before you're done with the game. You know what's fair? You earning your gear like everyone else.

  • did you even read the method of trade? its not like people will getting gear for nothing, if you want a purple item lvl 15 then you have to trade a purple item lvl 15. how is that not "earning" it? all im doing is swapping out something i "earned" for something else of equal value that i can utilize better.

  • You still didn't get that piece of loot yourself. That's what they want you to do.

  • i dont see how thats a valid argument when loot drops are random, and you dont even have to damage a creature to get a drop from it. i tested this in the beta, as long as you stand near a battle you can get a loot drop even if you dont actually contribute to that battle. i understand that they want you to "earn" your loot but with game mechanics like xp share, random loot drops, and what ever the blam was going on in the crucible for loot. you are not really "earning" much of anything.

  • That's deflecting the issue. Wonky drops could just be a Beta problem. That's the point of the beta in fact, to give feedback on that. So it's probably a good idea to start a thread about it, or chime in on an existing one on that topic.

  • That's good. Still a separate issue though.

  • not when the main argument against is that you have to earn your loot yourself. when in fact your not really earning anything. maybe if only higher level beasts dropped engrams, and if beasts only dropped engrams when you at least put a bullet into them that would be a valid argument.

  • Even so, your complaint here only concerns the random drops, not the rewards from misdion/strike completion. The random drops need to stay so you can at least gather materials. It's also nice to stumble onto something from time to time. On second thought though, I have no problem with any player getting loot due to proximity to the action. Think about it: all Guardians are on the same team when out in The Wild. So what if you didn't land the killshot? The reason you're even supposed to be in the area involves making those same aliens dead anyway. All Guardians in the open areas are implicitly meant to help one another as per the story and theme. A Guardian who sits around and lets others do the work while snagging loot, well that sounds more like a player problem than anything else. It's only the individual loot streams that make it seem wonky, but would you rather have a shared loot system? Players swooping in to get the loot first? Probably not...

  • i like the individual loot. but i dont like getting 150 kills in a strike and only getting 2 drops, while my friend gets 50 kills, dies 7 times and gets 5-9 drops. even that wouldnt bother me if people didnt keep telling me i have to earn my loot. how am i not?

  • Well, as far as the mission rewards go, you get the same. The Devil's Lair strike in the Beta seemed to always reward one armor and one weapon upon completion no matter what. Those random drops on the other hand... yep, they're random. Sometimes I got nothing and other times it felt like every third Fallen I killed dropped something. That's the nature of random drops. You every played Diablo or Borderlands? Same thing happened in those games sometimes. Bringing up the random loot and bringing PvE k/d into the issue? Why hate on another's luck at the random stuff? You sound jealous as hell...

i told you it wouldnt bother me if people didnt keep using the phrase "earn your loot" if the loot drop was based on contribution then fine use the phrase all you want. but when nothing more then luck determines your drop rate and the lvl/rarity of your drops that phrase becomes nothing more then an irritating farce .

  • But that's just random drops, dude. It's just random stuff that for the most part would be called "vendor trash" in other games. (You'll need them for scrap in this game though.) It's just to give you little rewards more constantly to keep the reward centers of your brain firing. And sometimes you might get really lucky too. Games nowadays do this stuff to hook you like the lottery does. At least this is much more entertaining than scratch off tickets. And very rarely did I find really good stuff in drops. Occasionally the odd engram was good, but the Cryptarch is a lottery too. The mission rewards were more useful to me I noticed, and I played the strike repeatedly just to get a green AR for Iron Banner, not to mention get a full set of green armor. I'm thinking the high end missions will be where we get the real spiffy stuff, not random drops.

  • for me the drops were almost always better then the mission loot. almost all of my engrams were green or higher. about 15 of them blue items above my level

  • The engram were something else entirely though. Not sure why I kept getting level 9-10 stuff after awhile... Who knows, maybe Cryptarch level had something to do with it. That's kind of a different bag though. Still, you do earn the random stuff. Random drop loot is always pretty much a participation award. You earn it merely by playing.
