Why trade, when you can build your own weapon?!?

So I've came up with a solution to deal with trading and getting the gear you want... I've noticed that among the weapons we can get; that with in a type of gun there are mostly the same, but they have a special ability that makes them unique between them selves. So, what I have came up with is... When you break down a gun, you gain "experience" in that guns specific design. Once you have enough experience, you can then make a basic version of that weapon. The same thing goes for the individual abilities. Once you have broken down enough weapons with the specific ability that you like, then you may apply that ability to a weapon you make. Thus, eventually getting the weapon you want, with in balance of course. IE: you can't put an ability on a weapon that wouldn't normally occur on that weapon. Now, people can have something that they have "personally" made, giving them a sense of pride because they worked for it, but also something that will eventually come to be. Not something that they may "never" find...

 • Sms like you're talking about alchemy and crafting abilities similar to what you can do in the elder scrolls. It's that right? If so would be sort of nice

 • your are actually correct because when you break down weapons you get weapon parts and other material wich come to find those materials are all to help build and customize a weapon so if you rather trade then build your weapon you really shouldnt be playing this game, ive noticed a few features in regard to how they make you actually work on your character like an mmo is supposed to and build "YOUR" character i feel a great level of personality from your self being put in reminds me of games like path of exile (main one i can actually speak in regard to lol)

 • I'm just outlining a weapon customization system that would be a game mechanic that could negate the need for a trading system, an give us a system that we can work for the weapon we want over finding the "perfect weapon" in a drop. This system puts a goal in sight, and gives us a bit of comfort. Not just a random drop that may or may not happen.

 • My friends and I were talking about the availability of trading gear this weekend and how it would affect the game. While they would be for trading gear, and honestly I wouldn't mind being able to give gear to my friends (I play more than they do), I would not want to see it in the game. In Borderlands (1 & 2), I was always handing out gear that I was finding to my friends because I played more than they did....so I was always finding cooler stuff than them. This is fine...in theory. In practice, however, you get people you will "dupe" items as well as farmers who will sell gear on eBay and other auction sites. Allowing trading would be detrimental to the game. I had seen where weapon parts would be used to upgrade or purchase new items in the game, but I do like your idea of being able to use them to craft your own weapon. This would be a nice addition to the game.
