After completing the mission for the moon we went back in search of dead ghosts to bring back to life and ended up stumbling upon the hellmouth. we dove into its dark corridors for almost the entire 2 hour period and even then we were blocked by doors that we knew would only take us deeper when full release is here. The atmosphere was tense every second we felt like there were a million eyes watching us waiting to strike. We even made it all the way back to the temple but from within the hellmouth. needless to say we killed our fair share of the hive and even took out an ogre along the way. GREAT JOB!! with so many people claiming that the moon sucked I had to let it be known that below the surface there is a maze of tunnels in the darkness that will either lead you to glory or drive you insane. loved every second of it.

Edited by O Landery: 7/26/2014 11:58:10 PMWe did the same it was awesome! We eventually hit dead ends, but the area that was available was huge. Numerous caverns and some ogres we could actually kill too.

Yeah, best part of the moon by far :) I'm pretty sure it's the Strike Mission area. The chains going down each room lead to the base were it looks like there were cylinder weights holding a chamber below the ground. I bet that's the Strike boss, or a mini boss. I was originally disappointed at how little content there was, but I'm pretty sure Bungie foresaw people like us and made sure some areas were off limits. I'm sure they'll be opened up in the full game when we select "Explore" on the moon.

Couldn't agree more. We did the same thing and were so blown away by the levels and were so excited we able to go as deep as we did. The lvl 9-11 Knights were great. The atmosphere was dark and edgy and such a blast. We did the mission in both difficulties and then went exploring. We found a half a dozen chests, was so wishing for a rare weapon or two but the level is immense and there were several areas we couldn't even explore. Those lvl 11 wizards were no joke. Awesome awesome awesome. Can not wait for September 9th, two worlds to explore and haven't come close to finding everything.

Did you find the creepy as hell (hehe) egg chamber?
-
Yup that place was REALLY fun and creepy. Reminded me of the Locust tunnels in Gears of War. It was pretty eery.
-
Did you guys find the ogres?
-
I don't like the Moon Crucible level but that sounds totally badass! I'm GAME!!
-
-
Dude. You couldn't be more right. I was alone and terrified for two straight hours.
-
Yes I explored this and so many different ways you can go!
-
Took a pike in and got totally lost. That place is so awesome.
-
Its awesome to see that people enjoyed it as much as i did im working on around 30ish hours in game (xbox 360) and those measley 2 hours spent reaching into the depths of that maw were absolutely the most tense and exciting moments I have yet to experience.
-
One of the best moments I've had playing a game. Ever.
-
I fought two different ogres...
-
I was lost scared and terrified in hell (literally) for around an hour and I had a god damn blast! It was amazing !
-
I managed to find a Golden Chest and a single Ghost, but like most people I spent most of my time in the Hellmouth Strike. I found the spawn point outside where the flags are, followed them down inside and went to almost every corner. It was like Devil's Lair though...you can only get to the Devil Walker and the door to the last boss is blocked, so I'm assuming when you can't go any further that's the second bosses location and the last boss is locked safely away for now?

great to finally see how tuff the ogre & shrieker were, nice touch with the shrieker sending the death shots that follow u when u kill it
-
Me and my friend killed 2 level 12 knights. It felt great.
-
I don't know how I'll last until September 9th for Destiny.
-
Totally agree man. I went exploring for almost two hours. Slaying everything in sight. EPIC
-
It was amazingly atmospheric and intimidating, most likely due to the fact that you also have no idea where to go...or how deep the caverns go for that matter.
-
Same here! Except I was on a pike the whole time, loved that thing.
-
The instant when you first open the door and they swarm at you, was such a great instance, emptied my clip swapped weapon no time to reload, then again to my special weapon which was a LMG. Relentless and so fun. Damn you August get the hell out of the way!

I agree, the moon was an interesting explore. I did the one mission that was available twice, then on the third try I just went exploring. I found the one gold chest, that I recall was in a above ground cave. I ran into the Ogre a few times (going in and coming back out). A Shrieker which let out a barrage of god knows what after I destroyed it. And two times I took on the two Level 12 Hallowed Knights and collected a hive version of the ether seeds called a Black Wax Idol. It says the Black Wax Idol when consumed will turn into Glimmer as you take down Hive but does not give how long it lasts. And on the moon I found Helium Filaments which contain Helium-3 fusion fuel - I wonder what weapon will employ fusion energy?
-
uhm. how do you get onto the moon? it says only avail in full version

My friends and I felt exactly the same, we spent ages wandering around inside the Hellmouth and had an absolute blast. We took out many Wizards, Knights, an Ogre and a Shrieker! Took a few screenshots for posterity as well. I can't understand all of the people who said the moon was crap!
