The phrase "data mining" has been used to describe it. I don't know how they did it, but apparently they were able to break into the file system of the beta build release, and the mobile companion application as well. They guard themselves from the impending blame game by reminding visitors that the information is speculative in nature.

Blame game, that is, backlash from the community lest any of their information be proven false upon the full release of the game. Full release.
