It's a beta. Personally I'd be happy if nothing carried over.
I had a pretty good taste of something fantastic, now I'm happy to wait for the main course.

This guy gets the idea. The graphics aren't even at 1080p yet, there's quite a bit more asthetic work to be done and some improvements to be had overall. I went into the beta to try it, to participate in the stress test, to try out which class/weapons and armour I liked best and to give feedback on it. I'd rather go in fresh with my Ghost Ed. content and earn the stuff again with my clan (which I started today, hoping by Sept will have members.) Anyways, enough of that, back to the "beta".

I can't help but to feel like this was one big pissing contest, where saying you are the oldest and using the "smartest" words to form a sentence, was y'alls way of sword fighting. Pop some miracle drug and climb in bed with your spouses...it's the internet, yo.
-
Edited by Keeyop: 7/25/2014 2:21:30 PMOf course it was, it's the internet, yo.

To those people who says wants transfers, that mean they never been in beta before either. Guess wait and see, after beta closed and till full version come out, they will learn a lesson about beta and full version whats different. I can't wait to see those people's faces lol.
-
I had a pretty good taste of something fantastic, now I'm happy to wait for the main course.
That's not really the case...
-
It is, it's a beta, it's there to give you a taste of what's to come whilst allowing the devs to test and tweak things accordingly.
-
No it isn't. That's not the correct analogy for it
-
So why do you want to carry everything over? Are you worried there isn't going to be enough cool stuff in the main game?
-
Certainly not. But I don't want to just lose everything I've worked for. Especially since getting the better stuff, or even the same level stuff is a chance and not guaranteed
-
But you knew that was the case going in.
-
....Is this your first beta test or something...?
-
Not at all. Why?
-
Did you keep level progression in any other beta you've been involved in? All the betas I've been in get wiped clean, without question....
-
Nope. Doesn't mean every beta will be the same in that sense.
-
But why expect/complain about it, when you should have clearly had the anticipation or understanding that you wouldn't get to keep anything when signing up for the beta in the first place? If you signed up expecting it to be different, then I'm sorry to disappoint you, but honestly, that's just not how it works so I don't know why you'd imagine that to be the case
-
But why expect/complain about it,
I'm not doing either.
when you should have clearly had the anticipation or understanding that you wouldn't get to keep anything when signing up for the beta in the first place?
I did not. And by the way its always been like this. Beta testers don't want to reset their gear so I have no idea you think this will be/is different. Every beta that gives player items they've worked for has always had people wanting to keep it, why did they work for it in the first place if not to keep it?
-
Edited by SeekerofPower17: 7/24/2014 8:47:10 PMMost people that understand what a Beta is supposed to be, go in to help the developers test the game and find bugs and issues, not to keep their stuff. I've been doing Alpha and Beta tests of games since the early 90s. I've never expected my progress to carry over, because that wasn't why I applied to the tests.
-
Most people that understand what a Beta is supposed to be
Their chance to play the game. Nothing more. Helping the developer comes second in almost all of the gamers minds.
not to keep their stuff.
Says who? What kind of gamer thinks of not being able to keep their stuff? They go in there expecting fun and maybe if they're dedicated, they go on the forums, create an account and let the creators know what's wrong.
l've been doing Alpha and Beta tests of games since the early 90s.
Irrelevant. I've been playing betas since the 80's.
I've never expected my progress to carry over, because that wasn't why I applied to the tests.
You applied to play. Simple as that.
-
No, applied to help the developers make a better game. I don't believe you've been beta testing since the 80s or you would know that progress in beta never carries into live.
-
You could've applied for whatever you wanted. Gamers see it as a chance to experience the game and its laughable that you think they join only to give the developers info. There are way more people playing the beta than there are going to the forums, creating an account, and giving info (which mostly comes up as complaints anyway)
I don't believe you've been beta testing since the 80s or you would know that progress in beta never carries into live.
You haven't played the Battlefield beta or the TESO beta either apparently. I don't see why we can't go with he idea I brought up with as its completely logical.
-
Edited by Keeyop: 7/25/2014 7:21:05 PM
You could've applied for whatever you wanted. Gamers see it as a chance to experience the game
It doesn't matter what gamers see it as, betas exist for one purpose, and that is to test elements of the game before it goes live, not to give gamers early access.
There are way more people playing the beta than there are going to the forums, creating an account, and giving info (which mostly comes up as complaints anyway)
If you really knew what a beta was for, you'd realise how stupid this comment is, commenting on a forum board at this point in development is really rather redundant. what they will be looking for is statistical info based on how people play, server loads, unexpected anomalies, and the such like. our data is being analysed, our forum comments not so much.
Irrelevant. I've been playing betas since the 80's.
Seriously, if you are going to make statements such as this, you really have to back them up with something.
-
Actually, I did play the TESO beta. Nothing carried over from the BETA. Now, it carried over from early access, which is absolutely NOT the same thing as beta.
-
I can see he's liar. Forget him. He can keep his fantasy dream.
-
>Coming from someone who hasn't even played the beta LOL
-
So why did you work for it in the first place when it was quite obvious you weren't going to keep it?
