Persistent centipede errors on sign on after being able to play without issue

[b]Update: If you have been blocked by recurring Centipede errors after having been able to play successfully (#3 below), we are applying a fix that will resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the solution will reset your characters. This is expected to happen over the next few hours. [/b] WORKAROUND: To ensure that you no longer hit this issue, do not delete characters after using the vault in the tower. Original Post: We've been investigating the reports of centipede errors that have been popping up on the forums. There are a few ways you can hit centipede errors. 1. I have never connected and get centipede when I try to sign on 2. I randomly get centipede when I play [b][u]3. I was able to play just fine, and all of a sudden I get centipede errors all the time and can't sign in[/u].[/b] 1 and 2 appear to be networking issues. This thread is concerned with [b]#3[/b]. #3 is an issue that we're tracking internally that I want to get more info about. Based on user reports and assistance, we identified a timing issue having to do with swapping quickly items between characters using the tower vault. We applied a fix and did some fixup of a number of affected users. However, not all affected users could be fixed up. So we're continuing to investigate solutions. We suspect there may be more ways to hit this error, and we need your help to find them. If you were at some point able to play [b]after the maintenance period[/b], but then were blocked from signing on due to centipede errors, please reply to this post with the following: 1. Gamertag / Online ID of all affected profiles (send this to me in a PM if you're not comfortable posting this information publicly) 2. What was the last time you were able to properly sign in and play (date, time and time zone) 3. What was the last time you tried to sign in and got centipedes (date, time and time zone) 4. Had you used the account vault at all between being able to play and seeing persistent centipedes? 5. Have you deleted any characters between being able to play and seeing persistent centipedes? 6. if you had not done 4 or 5, please give as detailed an account of your play between when you last played, and when you started seeing centipede errors.

    1. squidie8 2. Around 8:30pm on the 26th (AEST) 3. 7:30am on the 27th (AEST) 4. Yes. However I was able to play a bit of the crucible, but was then kicked and got the centipede error. 5. No EDIT: at 7:40am on the 27th (AEST), the problem stopped and I am now able to play

    • This is kind of ridiculous. I feel for everyone getting this issue who hasn't played the beta yet. At least I was able to get a few level 8s before this happened. And then you go over to bungie's twitter which explains the matchmaking issues that were present for an hour were resolved. How about the people here who haven't been given an update on this in days? They wanted me to be online at 2pm PST? Well, I would if I could. Now no "beta exclusive" reward or new gameplay (not a big deal to me but it is to some). I know this is a beta and there are bound to be bugs, but where is the customer service here? Where you at bungie?

      • AIRFORCE EZ 6:02 Est 26 JUL 14 Playing moon mission got to the hoard at the fallen guardian. Error'ed out of the game and than said it couldn't log into XBL when I was already logged in and connected, tried repeated times to log back on. Continuous play from 5pm est when I originally used the vault. Also earlier that morning while playing devils lair I was ignored a a player up until the spider tank. I interacted with both the other XBL members and the bots but the bots still did not register I was there. Sad that I will not get my reward for finishing the moon mission!

      • Guess we ain't playing the beta anytime. Wonder if this is going to occur when the game launches, if so I won't buy. Was really looking forward to this game and was very disappointed to seeing how the support for this game is lacking. :(

      • 1. A MAD PLATYPUS (xbl) 2. 5:15 pm est yesterday (6/26) tried every hour since then and nothing 3. 1:50 pm est (6/27) 4. no 5. no 6. Was simply playing old russia mission 4. The moon was released and I immediately was kicked off never got to play again. Have only gotten 30 minutes of play time the entire beta and i sadly paid for it :/ got zero play time during the paid period.

      • 1. Xbox One Gamertag: Synthasia 2. 7/25 11-12 P.M EST 3. 7/26 8-9 A.M EST 4. Yes. I moved items from my first character I created to the second character i created via the vault. 5. Yes. After moving items from the vault I then deleted my first character. I was able to play fine the rest of the day on my second character, which was about 4-5 hours. The following morning I couldn't sign in at all due to the Centipede error. - Additionally I can see my character game stats and gear through the site. Hope this helps you resolve this issue quickly. I would appreciate more of a chance to get hands on time in the beta.

I downloaded your update, and still I get the "Centipede Error" I am beginning to lose faith and patience in you Bungie, you're proving time and time again that you don't know what you're doing. Beta or not, that is no excuse for not being able to fix an error. Errors are expected in Betas, and fixes for these errors are expected from you.

      • 1. Ball4Eva54 2. 7/26 11 AM 3. 7/26 6:30 pm 4 yes 5 yes 6 left game after completing and exploring the moon went and got new ship. Switched characters for the ships and deleted one. Kept playing for awhile then I left and came back around 8pm and got centipede. Waited till 11:30 got update and still centipede.

      • So im still getting the centipede error even after update. Was excited thinking it may of gotten fix. I don't care if I cant play, but I would like to know it just gets fix even. I don't want to buy the complete game and get this same error over and over again. So bungie please try to fix it asap, be much appreciated.

      • I'm not directing this comment towards anyone in particular. I'll start out by saying that. Yes, it sucks those of us suffering from this bug missed everything today. And I am worried that it might indicate the level of customer support from Bungie for the full release. But completely abandoning everything because of this, or damning the game/company to hell. That's just....childish. I am a little upset that I've missed the last days of the beta. And, I will admit, my confidence in customer support has been shaken some. But I haven't abandoned all hope because of a glitch in a BETA TEST. Keep the faith, look towards the beyond, and above all else, remember: This isn't Defiance ;)

          1. XBox One - dReaper024 2. Before erroring started 7/27 1:40am US Eastern/Canada 3. 4am (US East) or so. 4. No 5. No 6. Finished Dark Within mission with newest character and was headed to Tower for reward when I was disconnected. Realized shortly afterward that the internet connection had been lost to the house. Went to play something offline for a while, when connection was restored, retried connection, continuous unable to connect errors (may not have all been centipede). Around 4am, able to connect again and managed to get into the Tower, no other players were present, collected rewards, went to start The Warmind. After getting to the area, used a consumable, screen turned black and another error. 4:28am - Connected again, started The Warmind, someone else was there as well. 4:31am - Fly error flashed, then repeated with another Fly, then gave Centipede. 4:50am - Started a new character and all seemed fine... then as soon as I post (5:02am) Anteater error. Able to resume with that character, but all ammo is empty.

          • So after being locked out for 2 days, I just find it funny that there will be people who didn't pre-order the game and will get the beta stuff and others like me who did and got locked out will simply have to accept missing out on it.

            • Well, it's the last day of the beta. I went to try playing one last time, i had to update the beta. I was excited, only to find out it didn't fix my centipede problem...oh well it was fun while i was able to play. I really hope bungie will fix this problem before the game releases, imagine payin $60 just to get locked out of a game. But then again it is a BETA, maybe we r expecting to much
