I love the day night cycle , but it think Bungee missed a trick with the night time.
Imagine the sense of foreboding as you see the sun setting, knowing that the higher level Hive masters are going to be out in numbers, and that the darkness will cover the land making visibility limited without your ghost light.
Will you survive the night or succumb to the darkness....
-
Nah, it's fine.
-
Sure throwing a bunch of one legged and hairy circus midgets covered in saw dust.
-
i think everything should be darker, since the main enemy is "Darkness" .
-
no im scared.
-
Sounds like a good idea to me - In fact, I'd even go so far to suggest that perhaps enemies get a bit more courageous to reinforce the fact that you aren't in control at night. Though, that might hinder the general gameplay a bit.
-
That would make it so much more fun. During thw alpha and beta the best part was when you first run into the hive and its dark and you get swarmed by the hive. This would be awesome.
-
With a toggled flash light?
-
Works for me! Maybe not as dark as when Ghost-light is necessary / so pitch black it's required. I see where you're coming from though: Just moon and starlight. No refraction glow from cities or lights, lamps, or people. Just the heavens and the eyes of monsters closing in on you. "If you stare into the night long enough, eventually the night will state back."

Edited by Der_Peevmeister: 7/24/2014 2:02:25 AMAnother thought - instead of a Limited Event: Celestial Event A total Lunar Eclipse has darkened the skies... The stars are blackened. Luna's light shines no more. The creatures of the Darkness will truly thrive in this black time. Their highest generals are sure to venture onto the field of battle...

Heck yeah. I love it in survival games when it gets super dark and you need to be extra careful. It would also make the ghost flashlight much more useful. What would also be cool if you can send your ghost out in front of you to scout things out. Or take control of him to see if you can find a path out of a heavily fortified area.
-
It should be like when a random community event arrives and it goes dark with a purple tinge, they should make it something along those lines, and also have added a button to turn the light on/off
-
Was actually talking about this with some friends having the enemies get a slight buff from the night would be nice maybe have Hive would spawn more and Fallen would fallback and rest till morning also some nighttime specific Public Events would be cool.
-
Sickest idea I have heard yet. Get this seen by Bungie.
-
I can not believe this but I agree night time should be a little bit darker.
-
Yes that would be amazing on so many levels :)
-
I'm for it, I wouldn't make survival particularly any more difficult as I don't feel it fits the world, this isn't a survival game. But at least a little darker, and a plus would be maybe different variant of enemies VS the day cycle.
-
This would be sweet. It should be dark enough to the point where visibility is slightly impaired, and in order to improve visibility, we could turn on the ghost's flashlight, which would then help us to see, but also attract our strengthened enemies such as the hive, as the darkness struggles to stamp out the light.
-
I love me my jumps cares.
-
Darkest would be cooler
-
That is an amazing idea. The only light you have is from your ghost and creatures on the night scramble out of their caves and start the hunt. This would be an awesome public event
-
That's an excellent idea, I still get chills when passing through the hive breeding ground in old Rusia. Please Bungie consider this :)
-
I agree, we need more darkness for our..uh...darkness. That said, if you go down the stairs in the little hut near where you start out, that is some scary shtuff.
-
Wow! This is one of the best ideas I've heard. Depending on what time of day it is, new/different enemies should appear.
-
Maybe pair this idea with a toggle to use the ghosts light manually.
-
Awesome idea, in a game where everything is about the light fighting the dark, this would make up or an awesome challenge. Maybe even a survival mode which ends at dawn time. ;)

Edited by HankTheYank27: 7/24/2014 4:53:47 PMBungie did mention how enemy troops are effected by the time of day... With that said, the Hive should be stronger at night (kinda like vampire zombies?) and it should be... well... darker! I do like the northern lights though, it reminds me of Skyrim!
