SO MUCH FOR TOLERANCE
OK, I'm assuming many of you have seen these two posts: the person who wants to play Destiny with others within the LGBT/Furry community, and the person who wants to play with Christians. Now let me say first this is not going to devolve into a theological or argument about morals. When the guy(or girl) who made his post about playing with other Christians, his thread was torn apart. He, his beliefs, and anyone who sided with him were discriminated and made fun of. He was told countless times that he was wrong and stupid for believing what he did.
Now today there was another post made by a guy(or girl) wishing to play with with those in the LGBT and "furry" communities. This thread, thankfully, was met with nothing but kind words and willingness to play, even by those who were not LGBT.
Why is there a difference between the responses to the Christian post and the LGBT/furry post? Neither was condemning those who didn't think like them, simply asking to play with like-minded people of similar backgrounds, yet one was discriminated and made fun of. Why is this OK? We supposedly live in this generation of tolerance, where everyone's beliefs and lifestyles are to be accepted, so why the intolerance? Everybody should remember the Golden rule, treat others the way you want to be treated.
Ok guys, it's getting a little out of hand. This is not a topic about religion, it is about respecting each other. Remember, just be nice to people. It doesn't cost anything. You're not required to agree with them, but do not belittle or discriminate against them for thinking differently than you do.

1 ReplyI'd play with either crowd. I am Christian, but I support LGBT because I don't want my little cousin to be harassed in school for having 2 moms. Also, there is nothing irrational about believing in a higher power. Science requires evidence, theology does not. You cannot empirically prove or disprove the existence of an afterlife. Therefore, arguing about it is pointless. I'd mix it up with different ideology sets too because I can effectively rationalize my beliefs, and I don't hold it against anyone who can do the same. Any thread about playing with one kind whether Christian, Jewish ,white, black, female, warlock should be trolled apon. It's promoting separatism. Keep that off a gaming forum and in real life,where your prejudices might be welcomed.

But of course people are on either extremes here, dropping homophobic slurs or being overly supportive.

2 RepliesIf you take a look at the LGBT/Furry post there's plenty of hate on it now. Just have to give it time for the jerks to come around. I think one of the problems is people enjoy arguing, enjoy trolling. So they do treat people how they want to be treated, like crap. It's a shame but a lot of people in the gaming community are either very immature or closed minded about anything other then "standards" (There are PLENTY of level minded and cool people in the gaming community too!). Wether you're christian, atheist, straight, gay, I don't care. I play games to have fun and if someone else enjoys the same game and is mature then I have no problem teaming up with them and playing the game. Gaming is to get out of the world and have fun.

Also, people spend too much time worrying about what others are doing while their own life falls down around them. Who cares what others believe or do in their own personal bubble?

So go get a reality check please. Can an admin lock this thread and throw it away, and post new forum rules about political and religious views.

Heres the problem.....most of the world are tolerant and like people and just want to be left alone and are good and friendly.....but all the bitching we hear all the time is from the minority. They are just the loudist. The people who dont care and are just living their lives are just living their lives.

Didn't respond to either post because I just play . The others on the other consoles I am playing Destiny with are just people at the end of the day. I will be respectful of them till they aren't respectful of me. Why do we as gamers need to know or care who is operating the other controller? It's a game. I play to escape real life for a fixed period in time. After I log off I have to deal with the real world. Everybody quit dragging their real world into my pixelated made up world!

I must say however that you are wrong in this statement. Tolerance is just that... you put up with it/tolerate it. You don't have to accept what they do or believe. On a side note people that believe in a higher power of any kind is far better than people into borderline beastiality... Just my opinion on the matter. :DD

Basicly ignorance.. compared to someone who has read the bible and gone to a chrisian school and knows and understands a little better than they do. Now, the Bible says that we are to love one another, gay or not, but not to except their lifestyle. Most importantly, those who are gay and choose to adopt kids, are selfish. Why, because kids aren't meant to be raised with two moms or two dads. Both a Father and a Mother bring something unique to a child's development. Anyhow, just a thought.

If you keep telling a country that grass grows better with Water with sugar in it. They will believe it. Especially when you show some statistics. Why say this? Well, since we are accepting everyone for who he/she is, more and more. No matter what sexual prefence they might have. Now when a Party says it's a disgrace and against my believes so they shouldn't have the same rights as that party has. Like Christians and gay marriage. They aren't tolerant. And they get bad publicity around the other people. Now imagine, that we see every Christian the same. They all want to ban or prevent Gay Marriage. Not so hard hey? Now the Atheists see a Christian (Innocent or not) they go bashing him, Because his religion is intolerant against homosexuals. But He might not be. But his religion is. Prejudice runs on both sides. Intolerance as well. This will never end. It's like Isreal vs Palestina. Xbox vs PS. Capitalism vs Communism. It never ends, because we cannot rise above this. It just shows how primitive we are. How stupid we can be and how idiotic we will become.
