The community on this forum is not what I was expecting.
There is so much entitlement among the users here that I feel bad for bungie. Combine that with the constant pissing contest between xbox and playstation and it's really bringing this community down.
Call it beta, call it a demo, call it early access sneek peek.. I don't care what you call it but I have put around 10 hours into this beta so far (just my warlock) and I was able to get some buddies in as well. All for free really, the 5 for my pre order goes towards my final purchase so I don't see what people are bitching about as far as content goes. There is more than enough content here to let you know if this is the game for you.
The only major critiques I do have though are lack of penalization for leaving games early, the damage indicator could use some work and joining/leaving fire teams needs some streamlining. Something I'm interested in as well is whether or not these pvp matches are hosted on dedicated servers or peer hosted. I've noticed some matches I feel like a god with my shotty and just can't be stopped. Then other times there is significant delay between my shot and my kill.
All in all I think bungie did a great job in letting us try a new game that is kinda hard to explain and really needed some hands on experience to understand what bungie was bringing to the table.
TLDR: how about a thank you to bungie for an amazing peak at what we will be able to experience come fall. Instead of bitching bc you ONLY got 10 hours for simply putting a fully refundable 5 dollars to support devs who are looking to break the standard fps mold.
PS: I'd love to start to see some constructive posts. Not "omg bungie this is not enough".

Like noobs, idiots, morons, and assholes that came with it. "Console War" is ridiculous and stupid. Whoever participate in this is no better that an asshole and a complete moron who is stupefied over who has the best electronics. But sometimes this nonsense feels like the biggest troll in history that lasted for more than 5 years and even the people who made the consoles fell for it...

Sometimes a group of people have to rise up and collectively ignore all the trolling. All online communities are this way now and there does not appear to be anything people can do to squash it except ignore it. People who are unhappy move on when people stop telling them they are right.

First of all, you have an awesome point. Second, I am trying to make topics that get people talking about cool things and what they like or what would be cool to see in the full game. Instead of arguing. Problem is I just recently signed into Bungies Destiny page and cant get anyone on my topics as I have zero followers and such. :(

1 ReplyTwo things. firstly the money for reserving the pre-order does not go to bungie. Secondly, the community is normally good and doesnt have a sense of entitlement. They just feel betrayed because bungie didn't give the "standard" notification at least nine months in advance. It sounds stupid but with a bit more forewarning, the normal application of ninja justice, and a community manager that would directly respond to complaints, the core gamers would be way less upset.

I agree wholeheartedly. I also want to point out that this entitlement isn't limited to just this forum but that what we see here is a reflection of the entire gaming world if you will. Maybe it's a lack of maturity, maybe most people playing games are young teens who don't realize what goes into making a game. Regardless of what it is, I think that people need to change their attitude and just be grateful for the great products we receive from most devs.

2 RepliesI hope there is no punishment for quitting on your team, cuz if there is I swear many ppl who are competent (such as myself) will either quit pvping or just pub stomp. Why should I punished for being part of a team that has a phobia of flags?

2 RepliesYep. I remember the Before Time. The old Bungie.net used to to be a much nicer place from what I remember. I remember being on here for Halo 2 and everyone was simply stoked to be getting online multiplayer on the original Xbox. Most of the people commenting now were probably still in grammar school. Not the same kind of people that we used to have in the community. Yesterdays terrible minority is today's majority.

Really, with everything how it is, you should know that some forum communities are.. well how can I put this? Lacking. Think that's the appropriate word. But yeah, back to the point. I do find some people here are actually helpful, and respectful. But that isn't always the way of others you know. I myself play on Playstation 3, but I don't really diss others that have next gen consoles or a 360. It doesn't matter, we all payed cold hard cash or maybe bought plastic with a small piece of plastic. All they are, are game consoles and this is a game we're testing to make it polished for release. One thing that I do hate though, about the game so far is constant disconnecting. I don't know if it's my end, or Bungie's but its still a good beta so far. And before you say it's my end, here's a little bit for you; My brother can get on my system, and log on his account and play seamlessly for about 8 hours. I get on, and get disconnected constantly every 5-10 minutes.

2 RepliesI've never played a game like this before, thus I find myself shooting at other players in the heat of the moment, if I do this to you it's not on purpose I promise! There's a lot going on in game and I get trigger happy. That said, I get a bit frustrated not knowing how much more EXP I need to get a new upgrade, but I'm used to numbers instead of a bar so that's on me I guess. Anyway it would be nice to know how close I am to the next upgrade besides the bar that SLOWLY builds. Anybody else feel the same?

Most FPS forums, and competitive game forums are like this in general. Since this one is a multi-console release, you'll also have the console wars with some PC Master race thrown in.

That's basically how most communities are, especially for games like this and games that aren't released. When communities shine are when the games land in their hands and what they can make of it. It's like back in high school. There's people you like, and people you hate. You got to listen to all of them, but you only need to talk to a few. For some reason everyone else seemed the same, but you and your friends seemed different doing weird crap.

Ya man, in old halos all we got was a few multiplayer maps and hardly any gametypes. Im in xbox land but from what im reading, there is going to be more to do than i have time. I figure ill only be amazed and could be nothing less than thankful for Bungie doing such a great thing for us. some people on here act like spoiled house cats,ha.

It's not THIS community, it's THE community. Unfortunately. There is no game forum that doesn't have this kind of attitude going on. Just always tell yourself it's just the vocal minority, else you will lose faith in humanity ;)

totally agree with you buddy :) people never cease to amaze me... for the worst ^^ Let's give Bungie some credit, they did a marvelous job that shouldn't be spoiled by a pack of dumbass, bitching about this or that, as they want to be super soldier in 5 seconds and why they aren't ruling the world, well... they're missing completely the point of Destiny, which is obviously not Call of Duty or Battlefield. p.s. sorry about my broken english :D

First... omg bungie this is not enough. ;P Second, I definitely agree about the quarrels between PSN and Xbox, childish, right? But what ever. People have a tendency of putting-up their standards and wanting to keep them, and therefore the beta not have meeting their standards they complain and leave a bad rating or whatever. But seriously, Bungie COULD have given us more time to play the beta, especially the xbox users... because they get like half the PSN's time to play the beta, and it's only like a week long.
