  • Now, Destiny is the exact example of what will happen to future gaming. All online. Only single player. They will force us to buy multiple televisions, consoles, and disks in order to play with our friends and families. This is the future. They will begin to leave last-gen consoles behind, and nothing will be in their way. We may be gamers, but truly, we have no power on our own. We need to band together, and bring the fight to them! • It hasn't been confirmed or denied yet. Reasons why I think it will have splitscreen: 1. Bungie talks a lot about getting together with buddies and drinking and playing Destiny. Don't exactly know how you would do that without splitscreen, unless that is a way to enjoy the game that they realize can only be achieved in their studio with tons of systems and monitors connected in one room. Or everyone gets drunk in their separate houses, which sounds pretty lame to me. 2. The game is all about Co-op. Every aspect of the game can be approached with at least 3 people. 3. Splitscreen was a major part of all the Halo games. It was a feature that let the game be as fun with friends as it was. Reasons Against: 1. They haven't confirmed it yet, and people ask about it in the mail sack *alllll* the time. Splitscreen seems to be such a simple feature that I don't see why Bungie would want to keep it secret, yet they haven't confirmed it. This leads me and others to believe that Bungie has adopted a "Nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" policy with splitscreen. They don't have it, but they won't deny it for fear angering splitscreen lovers (basically everyone) and potentially losing pre-orders. 2. Unfortunately, the video game landscape in general has been leaning away from splitscreen lately. 3. With all of the character customization and personalizing that is so key to Destiny's gameplay, having someone pick up a controller and join you won't be as easy as in Halo: CE through Reach, when everyone started with the same gear. Possible ways to avoid this issue would be to have the splitscreen guest have access to all the loot that the host has unlocked, and then let the guest customize his guy from that selection first. Also the guest could just start out with basic gear and unlock as he played. Splitscreen could also be limited to only people with other PSN/XBL accounts, so they can retrieve their data and then play as if they were at home but with a split screen.

Split screen is unlikely as it requires having multiple versions of the game running, and either multiple accounts logged in, something that consoles struggle with, or 2 characters active from one account and as skill points and weapons are tradable between characters it would get abused very quickly
