So allow me to explain what this is about. I fell in love with this girl and she loved me back. As time went on we planned to get married and the like. Long story short, she went down the wrong path and we had a falling out. I became depressed and attempted to take my life. I am now in the healing process and everyday is a challenge for me. I suddenly got the urge to write, and when I put the pin to paper this is what happened. Tell me what you think.
“It is only after experiencing love for the first time and losing that in which I love, I came to an understanding of the true meaning and purpose of life. Love is what drives the human race; we spend our early lives building relationships that prepare us for that moment when we first feel love. It is then when we are overcome with a sense of love and belonging, that we feel our lives have meaning. As we attach ourselves to this new found meaning we begin to build a bond fueled by passion and desire. We then become blind to the world around us; the excitement of this new adventure captivates us and pushes us to go where we have never gone before. We begin to develop a new outlook on life, one where we could not possibly imagine existence without our significant other. It is this feeling and state of mind that gives us a sense of purpose and meaning. Nonetheless, this is not the true meaning or purpose of life. In order to find what is, you must first learn a valuable lesson, perhaps the greatest lesson life has to offer. This lesson is loss. When the feelings of love and belonging are suddenly ripped away from us, we experience emotions that’s try to drag us down. That, which for a time drove us to be a better person, now hurts us deeply. It shows us how small and vulnerable we are. These horrible feelings, and how we choose to respond to them, will show us the true meaning and purpose of life. If we choose to be defeated, we will become depressed and hopeless, stuck in the past. However, if we choose to rise up and stand firm, to not give into the temptation of living in the past. If we choose to keep our heads held high and our eyes pointed to the horizon, we will overcome the clawing despair of loss. It is this victory that teaches us one of life’s greatest lessons, and reveals to us the true meaning and purpose of life. To live.”
Please tell me what you think, and what would a good title be for this. I plan to start writing for a living and this is my first piece of work.
