Mississippi Religious Freedom Restoration Act signed into law

To all of you that can't stand the thought of business owners being denied based on what the -blam!- ever. Let me ask you something: What would you do to make them serve you? At that point, if you're being denied based on how you're defined, the right thing to do would be to go and find business elsewhere, but staying and demanding service is just being spiteful. You could call the cops on them, have them force him/her to serve you, but would that really accomplish anything? They could just make up excuses like calling in sick, or taking a personal day just to avoid having to deal with you at all. Point is, if a business owner does not want to do service, you can not force him. Not only is it spiteful and immoral, it's also [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commerce_Clause]Unconstitutional[/url].

The law specifically prevents a customer placing a "substantial burden" on the owner's beliefs. Serving food to a gay guy isn't a substantial burden. However, a gay couple owning a print shop, under this bill, would be able to deny service to the Westboro Baptist Church if they asked to have them print "fags go to hell" signs. This right is essentially recognized by half of the states, and the federal government. All this bill does is amend a loophole found recently where the business owner can only use this defense when it involves the government. Meaning, that gay couple would have had to print the signs lest they face a lawsuit from WBC. So when you see articles that say anything along the lines of the bill being anti-gay, or anything along the lines of refusing service based on personal bias, that's poor journalism.[/quote]

If anything, they're trampling on the religious freedoms and rights of many other groups of people although they either A) don't realize it, or B) don't give a damn. This is just one more example of how far the USA has fallen in terms of being the Land of the Free. It's the Land of the Free so long as you're a corporation, an ultra-rich person, or a lobbyist. The common people? We're all screwed over and left by the wayside. Gotta love this new status quo. And don't get me started on how heinously the separation of church and state has been defiled. It is sickening. We're becoming a theocracy.

You never see this can and will happen. It's always well this is a circumstance that could happen so let's not agree with it. This is also about giving religious freedom to everyone, not just christians. And why is it always made about Christians? People always complain about Christians having a persecution complex, it seems like the LGBT community does too, considering any law that gives freedom of religion (even when a specific religion is not mentioned) automatically translates to "THIS COULD HARM US DON'T LET THEM DO IT" As for the actual bill, what does it actually say? Quote please, no "this is my interpretation of it". :)
