Destiny ITG - Adventure [Last Updated April 4th]

Adventure Status : LOITERING
Adventure Key: Progressing - Stuff is being drawn/written Loitering - Stuff is being suggested/read Pausing - On hiatus
4/4/14 Revamped the OP! New tagline: Read adventure, reply to the latest post! 4/1/14
Hey guys. A while ago I tried to start a comic revolving around Destiny but I had a better idea a few minutes ago. This is (as seen in the title) an Interactive Forum Game; these have been kind of a fad around the internet and some of you guys may have seen these around here and there. For anyone who doesn't get it, basically we start off the story with a single picture and it progresses with ideas from posters. So, basically, I'll post a part of the story, and then you guys and gals reply to it with ideas. You can suggest what the characters should do next, how the environment should react, and I'll try to pick the most interesting or sensible options. Sometimes I'll ask for specific suggestions depending on whats going on. Multiple suggestions can get picked, and if yours is, then I'll make sure to like your post to let you know so you can see how it played out. I don't know how frequent I can update but hopefully we can get this stuff flying and eventually get a fairly interesting story going on.
Guidelines and Protips
• Posts where people can interact with the story are designated with an * • Anything can be suggested as long it has a smidgen of relevance with what the character is doing • Even if it isn't directly referenced in the flavor text, posters can suggest the character to do something in the context of the picture or character (ie. Call fireteam commander, pick up jar) • Don't be discouraged if you find the thread late and assume that I'm drawing something/progressing the story; I'll post in the OP when I'm in a state of no return. • Don't be afraid to post, it doesn't hurt! Also don't be discouraged if there are already a lot of post or if you think there's a post that I'll for sure pick as the next scene-- sometime's I'll do a combination, or pick multiple suggestions. • I'm really open to criticism, s'long as it isn't anything anybody has posted already. If you think the characters did something really dumb feel free to suggest he redeem themselves/how they can do it. • Acceptable suggestion include the stuff covered above, contributions/reasons for the character to commit to critical choices, talking/touching/drinking/eating/fighting with the environment, and sometimes just having the character go into downtime mode and think about their actions.
Currently Working on
○ Archive for all past posts so people and read from the beginning ○ Reading/waiting suggestions
* Okay, you're going to have to sit down for a minute and think about this. So, on one hand, you have the third for adventure seething through your veins. This totally legit treasure book is probably the first thing you've actually found in your days offs that actually did, well, anything. You have a pretty good idea of where the destination is judging from the little drawings, and even if you don't find anything worthwhile, it's still worth the try. You're not all that worried about getting lectured by guard command. You're pretty sure they don't care if one or two individuals wander off. You're more or less worried about the guardians coming to retrieve this book; you've already taken a picture of the map with your helmet's camera so you don't really have any practical use of it. Buuuuut you're pretty sure that a dinky old book that shoots giant blue beams out of itself would serve somewhat of an ulterior purpose. The real threat here is the Fallen marauders. By the traveler, do you hate those things. All aliens, really, but the Fallen especially. If two armed bandits can hold two guns, you'd hate to imagine how many a four armed bandit could hold. Yes, you know that they would hold four. Alright, what are you going to do?

Suddenly (and unsurprisingly) radio chatter exploded. It would only seem natural, considering that beam of light reached pretty high into the sky and gathered the dark, ominous clouds around in what appears to be the entire radius of this forest.
This is City Guard, West Section commands. We're making an informal alert on all com stations taking this side of the city to be on the look out for pods of Fallen marauders. In the event that a patrol spots one of these pods, you are to contact West Section commands immediately. It appears that the cause of this high amount of Fallen activity has something to do with the conspicuously blue beam of light. Orders directly from the reconnaissance sector of the tower-- Guardians are to scout ahead and find out what's going on. Radar scans issued from the time of the blue beam's light show indicate that the coordinates are somewhere along -347, 405y. Hop to it Guardians.
• Oh man, you hope your sister finds your dead, rotting, probably burning carcass. That would probably actually make it all worth it, what with all her-- Oh, you notice that the enormous blue beam of light is no longer all that enormous. Or there at all. All that's left appears to be the writing upon the parchment paper, written by the poor sap who last lost this journal; probably the skellington looking fellow over there. On the left side appears to be some nonsense written in a sort of alien scribble language, with a little pocket holding a round. You really cant understand these adventurer type journals; always having these little additions on their pages with mementos lamenting their death-defying schemes. Luckily, also common place in adventurer type journals, a map plastered the right side. You're not sure why this man decided to draw a map of what appears to be the location of his death and the location of sure, undeniable treasure. You're also not sure why these are the only two pages in this dinky little book since the rest are glued together. You tried looking back at the other page to see if there was any way of decoding this alien language but eventually came to the conclusion that this text is literally just a bunch of scribbles with no apparent correlation between each other. That bastard.

    • I mean, you just decide one day to skip patrol duty to go camping and look for some awesome loot, like a Vex helmet for an ancient, exotic handcannon, and the first thing you find is a dinky old book that just so happens to release all hell. If you didn't know better you'd suspect that the Traveler just really wants to see you suffer. Well, that's great, because now a giant blue beam of death is shooting out of the dink old book and you're probably going to die. Yeah, in fact, you're pretty certain something terrible is going to lurch out of that thing and kill you, leaving your body to be looted for the next stud that comes this way. It'll probably be some Hunter, thinking "Wow, this guy must have been a real corndog to get mauled in the middle of nowhere. Oh, whats this, guard armor? What was he even doing out here? I knew our guards were incompetent, but suicidal? Jeez, we really need to amp up City security."

    • Honestly, you have no idea how this stuff even happens to you. You're not even a guardian.
LNB AKA Killer7 Looking for loot.
Oh, that's right! You get out your trusty Traveler journal and remember that you scribbled something about taking a load off work and going out into the wilderness to quench your taste for adventure. Why you found yourself in the green wilderness and forgot the reason you came here in the first place, is unremarkable. It's highly irresponsible -- ditching patrol to go look for riches -- but hey, Guardians do that all the time. It's not like you garrison soldiers actually DO anything. You'd say what's the worst that could go wrong, but let's be real here we all know something ridiculously unfortunate is going to be the result of your wanderlust. You've noticed the unusual skellington and tattered book on the ground. You've never really fancied yourself as a grave robber, but to be honest, you've been wandering around this desolate mountain prairie for a good 30 minutes. You've pretty much spent your fill for adventure and kinda just want something to bring home and talk to the guys about.*

      • For now, however, we'll be put you into the shoes of this Human. This particular human is really at that special, really. Not even a guardian. Instead, a valiant member of the Last City garrison, guarding the gates against all that oppose the Traveler! The first line of defense against evil-kind! Right behind Guardians, that is. In that end they sorta overpower you 100 to 1 in terms of importance. But don't lose heart! Your job is one that is still of up most importance! Now, let's that a look at one of your prestigious guard antics.

      • But we picked ourselves up. We refused to fizzle. If refused to wimper. If we were going to die out, we would do so in a giant, fiery, ball of death. And so, we established the Last City, where Guardians were bred as the last protectors of Earth. Above us was the remnant of our once-messiah, the Traveler. Under the Last City we were united as three; The Human, the Awoken, and the Exo. Humans, predictable and uncomplicated. Awoken, otherwordly and mysterious. Exo, relentless machines without rest. Under them, the entities that were the "Guardians" resurrected the concept of "belief".

      • As with all empires, the Earth, and perhaps even more peculiarly, along with the Traveler, was met with strife. The likes of four armed humanoids manned mechanical beasts, legions of shielded hulks, mechanical droids that ripped through the very void of space, and immortal, undaunting undead soldiers that strided with an almost royal stance. Earthkind as of know don't sugar the truth. We we're struck down. Our once glorious megacities, outer space colonies, and grand army was smite. Our grand army, once spanning across the entire milky way, was decimated. Our capital was reduced to one. The worst of it all was that the ingenuity of the Traveler's children had been proven, challenged, and then broken. Perhaps we were too foolhardy for our own good.

      • Earth. When Lady Gaia first came into contact with the Traveler, we were blessed with a golden age of progression. A history remembered as a gilded era of immortality, it seemed almost as if there mere concept of opposition from the darkness of the universe became petty pessimism. Humanity, along with the Awoken and Exo, made up the three united races of the Traveler. With our silver protector above us, it felt as if Earth had encompassed the entire universe. Our reign would last prosperous, without conflict. How foolish it had been, back then, to believe.
