The forums used to be awesome, back in the Halo days (obviously, those were the only glory days of importance ever on this site). They used to have personality. Used to be there wasnt one all consuming topic we could all disagree about together. People had to go out of their way - get down right creative - to find reasons to get mad and flame each other.
Do you remember the good old days when it took legitimate skill to piss off half the forum users at any given time? It was all rainbows and unicorns then, yessiree.
OH WAIT...except when Halo 2 came out and everyone flamed it for being so much worse or so much better than Halo: CE (The Marathon 2: Durandal spoof posts were so hilarious!). Oh, and then there was when ODST came out billed as a full priced game, and if that was deserved. And then there was when Reach came out (which people still get crazy about debating the quality).
Consoles didn't lead to divisiveness on the forums. People going from being opinionated to being contrary and divisive leads to divisiveness on the forums.
Well i remember a recent well developed ploy to enrage this community. The person flaming, being honest or not, decided to ask the question if we have ever been laid. It was quite elaborate enclosing pictures of his gf that he lays when ever he likes and made you ask if he really spent the time on the four paragraphs describing how smart, built, and lucky he was which in turn allowed you a smirk or even disdainful laugh at what he thought he was trying to achieve. Anyway it was funny and Deej even asked how we could learn his ways. Thumbs up on my pretentious voice!
