Chinese hackers breach key US weapons designs

Picture- Littoral combat ship Among the weapon systems and technology breached are the F-35 Multi role fighter, Littoral Combat Ship, the Osprey, Ballistic missile defense systems, Patriot missile batteries and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System (THAAD) which is basically an improved patriot missile battery. THAAD- http://www.army-technology.com/projects/thaad/images/thaad_1.jpg F-35- http://www.worldtribune.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/v31882_f35-joint-strike-fighter.jpg Also the Australian equivalent of the CIA was also cyber breached by Chinese hackers and they stole information from them as well. I think some extreme measures need to be taken to get China to back off, not militarily but certainly economically. We definitely need to ramp up cyber security because it really looks like were falling behind here, this is getting ridiculous the stuff leaked here is literally the future of our armed forces. So Flood what do you think?

  • I work in the space. I don't know why they haven't contacted me yet about this. I would hope that they would contact me about a major security breach. What they took makes no sense, the Osprey had it's designs go public a while back. The THAAD is nothing really special, and they have the resources to develop it themselves. (also THAAD is a missile defense system not just a battery) And they have some cheap reproduction of everything else on that list, but I'll call my friends in the navy just to make sure. We have so much more. Their targets just don't make any sense, we have a lot larger cashes of more secret designs. Still makes me uneasy that they managed to hack into our systems though.

    • China has been training hackers for years to attack America in the cyber world. It's obvious they hate us but we keep giving them money and making their leaders rich while the peasants work for $1.15 an hour. I think we should completely cut ties with china.

      • the chinese have a military building and "secret" unit specifically for hacking the US. how is that not considered grounds for open war by the UN and congress?

Why is there a basketball court on the back of that ship? Seriously though, we should probably start hacking them back if we're not already. (It wouldn't surprise me if we already are.) It seems like the easiest and the most sensible thing to do. Of course I'm not entirely sure what we should hack.

            • What's new? Ever notice how Chinese military equipment look like complete rip-off's of American and Russian hardware? Only except China's crap will be useless and extremely unreliable. China is pathetic.

China is a real bitch. They pretend to be America's allies and pretend to befriend the Western countries, but they are really still in a Stalinist state of mind constantly aggressively provoking other countries and still trying to spread their petty communism across the world. They pretend to put measures against North Korea, but then ship them weapons and food so they can propagate their communist agenda. They hack into the computers of the US government, military, and corporations. I still remember back when the Navy SEALS killed Osama bin Laden there were reports of Pakistan allowing Chinese scientists and engineers to inspect and retrieve the wreckage of the disabled American helicopter. •
the Osprey
I don't see what's so bad about that one. I say let them make them. That way they can kill the majority of their military using them because of the problems they have.

                        • There was a documentary about cybersecurity a while ago I was watching where they were interviewing some US security analyst who pretty confidentially stated that while America has the biggest armed forces in the world, they are particularly vulnerable to attacks on information infrastructure; that is where the modern day war takes place. It might be on YouTube somewhere. I'll have a look.

                          • This is when sanctions won't do. They've hacked us too much, so I think we have the right to give them a little bit of their own medicine. Steal some of their vital information.
