ummmmm your networking knowledge is a little off. LAN = local area network like a network you set up in your house connecting 2 computers directly together or two xbox together that are in the same area your not going over the internet to do this. The internet is a WAN = wide area network that is used to connect devices together over a large geographic area. To answer your question yes you can connect 2 PCs together you need a NIC card and or a router. As for the game it all depends if it supports multiplayer.
