Here's proof that I'm not joking. So Flood, would you get one of these things? I think I remember seeing something like this in MIB1 or 2. This may be a bit old too. IDK if it is. [Edited on 10.09.2012 3:57 PM PDT]

They won't be mandatory. Why does everyone in here assume that just because something is available that everyone will be required to get it?
because as you said they"wont be mandatory for at least a generation" hence implying they WILL become mandatory. and -blam!- that, those who enjoy driving are getting screwed over by people like you saying SELF DRIVING CARS ARE THE FUTURE AND THEY SHOULD BE MANDATORY!11!!
They should definitely be allowed once perfected (I assume this is only in a design or prototype stage, I haven't read it yet), but you're right; They shouldn't be mandatory. I personally would prefer one but if you wouldn't I don't see a a real problem with it so long as you're able to drive capably. However, if you can't drive to a safe standard, you can get the -blam!- over it.
I think that they should be required for everyone eventually. It will make for almost completely safe roads.
That's complete bull-blam!-, and you know it. Computers mess up, just as bad as the people who program them. and what of us who enjoy driving, and the freedom of the open road... the ones who drive just to drive? Do we have to just accept these bull-blam!- laws just because of a hand full of retards who don't know how to drive? why do we have to lose our freedoms because of idiots who want to sit in a car while it takes you to your destination? that's boring as -blam!- for those who enjoy driving like me.
