Though we may deny it, I believe our savior is amongst us...

I've noticed a trend lately here in the Septagon during this time of darkness. The content we discuss everyday varies more than it has in recent times. I have read some very elaborately constructed discussion topics, trolls, and everything in between. I think it is about time to come out speak something that has been on my mind for a while. Before I begin I want to start you off with a light appetizer to prepare your hunger for some great content. I remember a time when threads about specific members were not allowed. I will admit, I very briefly looked over the Bungie.net Forum Rules (Updated 1/25/2011) to double check if this would be breaking any rules. Unless I am incorrect, this list of rules does not say I cannot post a thread based on a specific user. Then I remembered the "Community Joes" interviews. They are obviously based on a specific user but another thing about the interviews is that, honestly, they contain no discussion value. That is not something I want to get into at this time though (no offence to the CJ interviews, I personally enjoy them). My basic point here is that I'm not sure what is going to happen once I post this. Will it be controversial? Possibly, but much like the person I am about to discuss, I am not worried about what anyone says or thinks about me. That is the point of an opinion, correct? And in my opinion, an opinion, if not already opinionated, is not a legitimate opinion unless stated and defended--all of which I am about to do. Now that I have your mouths salivating, I don't want to keep you waiting on the main course. I expect a decent tip at the end of your meals, by the way. On July 23, 2009, an account was created. This account would go down in Bungie.net history and the name is probably even more recognizable than even Achronos. The member I speak if is none other than spartain ken 15. Whoa! Hold your horses. Don't hit the "reply" button just yet! You may be shocked by what I have to say about ken. *cracks knuckles* Ken has been an inspiration to me. I have had past inspirations such as Foman (back when he was cool during the CompoundIntelligence days) and Duardo (I guess he is still kinda cool) but I can't say I have had any other people here on B.net who have joined 3 years later than myself and made such an impact on not only myself but the entire community. "Come on Recoil! Get on with the flaming so we can all get a laugh before this thread is ultimately locked and you are banned and lose your blue bar!" No, no, no. That's not what this is about. And if I do lose my title, lose my ability to join in on discussions here in the Community forums for a little while, or, in a worse case scenario, we are all hit by an infamous carpet bomb by a mod who obviously needs to dig out his front sack-weggie, it will all, ultimately, be worth it. Spartain ken 15 is, in my point of view, one of, if not, the most ideal Bungie.net community member who still lurks the dark depths of this place. I have never seen so many people hate on one guy in a virtual community so hard and that same guy still not give a damn about what any of them have to say. I commend you to the highest for that, ken. As you are all most likely aware, memes of spartain ken 15 have been made, inside jokes about spartain ken 15 line threads everyday, and for those who have had the ability to see the them, countless threads have been created about spartain ken 15 in one particular group that I am still so ever happy to have been accepted into. But through all of this, all of the harassment, spartain ken 15 still continues to visit B.net everyday. He still continues to try and join in on discussions and to be accepted. He still maintains his 100+ PPD (in which is a legit, non-spam 100 PPD). He still continues to support Bungie more than 99% percent of the so called "fans" that play their games and visit this site daily. He hasn't once let any of the criticism slow him down. Now, for all the haters out there, your visions of ken have been clouded. I will admit, ken seemed a bit immature, a meer unknowing virgin to Bungie, when he originally joined. Since then, he has truly matured into quite a member. Nobody can accept this change because of all the past perceptions built and created about ken. Honestly, if you are one of those who still linger on the forementioned perceptions, you are the ones who are immature. You are followers. You see other "cool" members hating on ken so the easy thing to do is to agree with them. I've seen so many people attempt to put ken down and never did I once attempt to defend him. I would say I wish I would have but I don't have to. Ken didn't feed the flame. He simply shouldered them off, he showed maturity, and he honestly never gave a damn about anything anyone ever had to say about him. I guess this is the first strike on the Berlin wall, my attempt to tear down a barrier many of you have been neglecting to look past for quite some time now. I've never seen someone personally defend ken before and if you have, I'm glad you did what I never did. This is something I felt is important to me and something that I have seen as a glaring scar on the Bungie Community. If we are the "close knit" community we are made out to be, wouldn't that make the community a hypocrite as a whole? I appreciate you taking time to see what I had to say tonight. If you don't have anything positive to say, I would prefer your sending me a PM. I'm not posting this to flare up any arguments so don't waste your time. Ken, keep it up bud. If there was ever an opportunity to do so, I would nominate you for "Member of the Year" or "Super User" (if that is still even possible) because you are the example of what a community member should strive to be like. And no, that doesn't mean you all have to go post 100 replies a day.
