My parents just don't understand me.

I apologize for the cliche and nonsensical title, but I figured it would grab your attention. If you're reading this, I'll assume I've succeeded. Let's just cut to the chase - my parents are naturally highly social and athletic people. They have a large group of friends, and leave the me the household most days of the week. I, by contrast, am their polar opposite. Like many others on the Flood, I am rather shy, avoidant, and introverted. I prefer a small, close group of friends and need much time alone to "recharge" so to speak. Ever since I was born, sports have been forced upon me. You name it - I've played it. They've given into my constant protests, and at this point it's come down to curling, which I have reluctantly played for the past 5 years. As I have reached the age of 15, they've given me an ultimatum. Either pick up more sports and come out of my shell, or get a job. As I mentioned before, I am highly anti-social and avoidant, and thus find it difficult to pick up either of these. Not to mention I'm undoubtedly unwilling. I definitely don't enjoy sports, and to be frank, I really don't want to grow up. Anone can admit life is hard, and getting a job and accepting that reality is the first step. It may seem naive, but this is how I feel. There is a large amount of tension between the both of us, and I'm being pressured quickly into a decision, and be extension out of my "cave", as my parents would call it. wat do flud?

 •
Posted by: DarkVader9494 A job will help you out. It allows you to interact with others while making money. However getting a job at 15 is very difficult. I'm 18 and have been trying very hard the past year and half with no luck. Cause your basically competing with experienced adults, and employers don't have many reasons to take you over them.
Yep. I worked with friends parents, and my own parents first because I could learn in an environment where I would feel less pressured. At this point in time it's basically that meme.... "I need a job that requires 3-4 years of work experience. But I can't get a job because I don't have 3-4 years work experience".
