Posted by: RedneckHamster Personally, I think it was a little short, but overall quite good. My primary criticism pertains to the Forerunners and environmental design. I'm not a colossal Promethean fan, but they're tolerable. What I take issue with is the preponderance of levels taking place inside Forerunner structures. Part of what makes the Halo series so awesome, in my opinion, is the way that Forerunner structures and ruins blend with the ambient environment. It's visually extremely impressive. When I first entered the natural (read: non-space-junked) part of Requiem, I actually stopped and said "Wow". It just looks that awesome!!!! By setting much of the latter half of the Halo 4 campaign indoors, this effect is lost. Shiny surfaces and hard-light do NOT show off the 360's graphics capability to its full potential. It feels like a generic swoosh-door sci-fi setting. If I wanted that, I'd go play Mass Effect.
Agreed, I miss the derelict locations and the outside settings. And hearing those doors on AotCR open and close. Midnight and Shutdown both screamed The Library to me. It was good in it's time (excluding the repetitive fighting) but Halo needs something new.
