The better A.I the enemies have, the more interesting encounters one can have, within the same gameplay mechanics. Not going that direction is what stagnates gameplay for me. I'm sure you didn't mean to, but the way you phrased it made it seem like you suggested something new; a solution for the problem. :P I agree btw, [i]personality[/i] in the battlefield helps increase how engaged one is, and it allows for more strategy.
