Well, not anymore: we are really the product of some cosmic coincidence; there is not really a god watching everything with the planet force and stuff. Of course, the level of cosmic coincidence that must have occured to result in self-aware creatures that can question their origins can be considered divine; many atheist use this fact for comfort by rationalizing others faith in god to be nothing more than their own way of expressing their awe at the majesty that is life. Likewise, many religious folks use this fact to rationalize atheists' lack of faith in god by assuming that these people are simply accepting god on many different levels (time, space, physics, evolution, etc) and calling it science. There are still other people in both categories, and many in between, who view others' opinions on the coexistance of religion and science as loads of stuff that would clog Bungie's blam filter. And there are yet more people who do not fit into any of the categories described above, and hold non of the views explained above; after all, the only truth universal to every member of a religion (or lack thereof) is that there is no truth universal to every member of a religion.
