Bushfire season hits Australia

Homes and lives threatened as 135 fires burn across the state of New South Wales Bushfire season always sucks, it's a horrible start to the new year. Tasmania has been hit bad already, with thousands of people evacuating their homes and towns in order to save their lives, and now NSW is feeling the heat wave as well. Temperatures of 40+ degrees C (100+ F) caused the fire danger to reach the level 'Catastrophic', the worst possible danger level. Just thought you guys should know. Discuss bushfires.

 • It can be 40 in a coastal area and be manageable because of all the water around and the large amount of shade avaliable. 40 degrees in the outback, where there is nothing to absorb the heat and everything is just radiated off the ground, it's a whole other echelon of hot. I actually got a tan around my neck where my shirt ends and my neck begins and I was only out of the city for 2 days.
