Fan Art Submissions
Every month in The Gallery, we have a new thread for people to submit their own Bungie fan art. You’ll need to link your submission in that thread and at the end of the month we will gather the top submissions, host them and post them in a top story with all due credits. Yes, you will get mad street credz.
The guidelines are pretty standard. No limitations on size (we’ll host the original file, but we will likely shrink it to 350px wide in order to display it properly on our page). Content... no pr0nz. I don’t care if it’s Bungie related, we’re not hosting pr0nz. Other generally unacceptable items include: gratuitous gore, copyright infringement and/or using others’ work without permission. Outside of that, anything goes. You can submit a creation in paint that took you 2 seconds, but we’re not going to feature it on the site (unless you’re Frankie). We’ll be featuring the best of a particular batch. We’re not limiting ourselves to a certain amount of submissions per posting, if a piece should be featured then it will be.
You should really only submit new art. If you've created art in the past, please don't submit it. I know there's a lot, LOT of good stuff out there already, that's why we're doing this. But we can't have older pieces submitted or we could go on forever like that. Please only submit new works. We're not asking for exclusivity either. Go ahead and post them to all the usual blog, forum or the HBO Misc Art secion as you please.
ONLY SUBMIT YOUR OWN WORK. Why would you submit someone else's work? It's their work, they can submit it.
[b]In your post you must have A) the title of your piece, B) the name you'd like to appear with the piece. In fact it'd be best if you did that in the filename as well, "ThePieceNamebyMyName.jpg" if possible.[/b]
If I have to log in to a service to see your piece, it's not going to get done, so don't host them on myspace or whatever.
Please do not submit more than one or two pieces at a time. If you made a whole bunch, then pick your favorites and either wait for next month or just link the rest of them in case people are interested.
Disclaimer: We’re not soliciting this artwork to be used for profit or in any commercial capacity by Bungie Studios. We are simply looking to give Bnet users a place to submit their artwork and ultimately to highlight and give the best of it a home.

i believe that you are correct in saying that but i believe that not only skill is acquired but also talent is as well through your peers and friends. but according to some test it takes 12 trys to get 1 good idea but you get talent by being acknowledged by them but doing some good work. more or less i am personally better with paint, paint shop pro and cs3. I personally am an artist, but I can't play the piano, I'm awkward etc. I can do "real" art, but I also like to mess around with art on the computer. I think it takes just as much talent to draw on photoshop as it takes to draw with a paintbrush. [Edited on 3/11/2007]

I partially agree with you, there must be a part of art experience (drawing by hand) mixed with talent before starting with digital art. If you don't know how to draw in the 1st place, how can you know how to draw with a mouse? (or a graphic board) If you master how to fill a piece of paper, the power is yours. Anyway, talent comes with skills one way or another.But if talent is not here at first, it can slowly be forged. EDIT: and starting to draw with a mouse for me was even harder as i am left handed lol []^_^[] [Edited on 3/10/2007]

i didn't say it was easy HEWL NO! i just don't consider it art that's just me tho but digital art requires SKILL but NOT talent (not saying i'm talented) thats what i mean its hard though, yes indeed

It's 20x harder to draw with a mouse than it is with a pencil.[/quote] it just depends on which is harder for you. there are some who are better with physically drawing with a pencil or who are better with a mouse. just like there are people better at playing with a keyboard and mouse while many are better at playing with a console controller. just pick whichever seems easiest to you, and practice a lot. take your art to other people for suggestions and criticism.

digital art is wayyy harder than it looks, it can also be an innovation of drawing and computer. It's 20x harder to draw with a mouse than it is with a pencil.

Start learning photoshop or painter (or both), then some kind of 3D program (maya, 3D studio, or Blender(a free opensource 3D program)), and with some practice and determination & motivation you'll get very very good stuff... don't forget a lot and a lot of tutorials (best are vids) are out on the web. I'm still learning the advanced curve of photoshop though. Anyway good luck.

um yeah i also hope my art is noticed it would make me proud that the bungie community find to be good. and i am sure every one else who put a pieces of art in would have that felling or something slightly different. and yes your words are very true and powerful (KazeoHin). well i wish every one good luck in the competition and just to tell you all i make stuff like this cause its fun ok so don’t caught up in trying to win cause you may never win if you always do it to just win (useless you’re a good artist and then everyone else has a problem) ;^ ) [Edited on 3/4/2007]
