Why is it that whenever you post enough ">>>"'s in a line, the website adds in ">"?. Clearly it's something to do with how posts work but i can't understand why this would be implemented (unless of course it's a glitch)

> is the HTML entity value of a greater than character. They are converted to that whenever you want to display them since greater than characters have a special meaning in HTML and XML documents. If you look closely at the page source, you can see that any greater than characters are converted, even though you type one directly. This is also done to mitigate certain security issues. I don't expect you'd get an answer (which is a good thing here) as for why you get those entities coming up in the middle of strings of text (even though the function for mitigating these threats doesn't appear to be working as I'd expect it to), since information like that has the potential to abused and used to exploit the site.
