Art School

Hey guys, I'm currently finishing my last year of highschool and I'm really interested in the field of Game Art (mostly concept art). I've seen the requirements posted on the Bungie jobs, and I'm wondering if anyone could tell which schools can help me meet those requirements. I've asked some people in the Industry and some say you just need a kickass portfolio and not neccessarily formal schooling. Others say it helps to have a computer science degree/formal art schooling. If any of you fine people can give me some pointers on schools or what I need to get a job, that would be great! Thanks

  • It all depends on your work ethic and drawing skills. DigiPen can help you become a concept artist, but it's all up to you in the end. I suggest spending a lot of time when it comes to considering future carriers and colleges. Being an artist in the game industry seems really cool, but it's a -blam!- load of work to get there at DigiPen. I'm personally a BFA at DigiPen and have been worked to the bone this last semester. As far as DigiPen goes, it's a Machine. It takes experienced artists, and beat's the living -blam!- out of them to prepare them for the industry.
