Happy Halo Day!
It's hard to believe that it's been five whole years since Bungie unleashed Halo on the world! To celebrate this momentous occasion we've got a few small announcements that may be of interest to fans of the series as well as a little screenshot from a game we like to call Halo 3.

Omg, so many things coming to Halo next year: Halo Film, Halo Wars, Halo 2 Vista, Halo 2 maps, Halo 3 pulic beta (i really hope it isnt invite only) and finally the best news of all, Halo 3 itself. Happy Halo day!

wtf on making the new maps only for the 360!! i know literally hundrerds of people still using the origanal xbox. come can't something be done about the new maps? oh by the way awsome news release other wise. just can;t believe the new maps are only going to be for the 360. Fortunately halo 3 will be out soon and so yay!!

I've had mine for 8 months, and I worked my ass off to get it. Stop being lazy, get a job, and buy what you want instead of whining till someone gets it for you. Impressive announcements. I am happy :) BUT BOY, WOULD I BE MAD IF I ONLY HAD AN ORIGINAL XBOX AND I COULDN'T GET THE NEW MAPS FOR MY ORIGINAL XBOX GAME HAHA! And its true, you can't blame Bungie for that.... although they could have gone into strike mode until M$ accepted to give the map to original xbox users... oh well, they didn't. I got a 360 :)

You people should understand that 1. It's probably easier to set downloads in the 360 download market and 2. You bought a whole game and got a lot of extra maps (probably when they were free, maybe not) and that Bungie does not need to make ANY new maps, but are doing so because their fan base would go crazy over it. Although I will say that I will probably not buy any maps until they are free, and will definitely NOT buy any downloads that are supplied at the same time, even within a month or so, as Halo 3 (I HATE YOU BETHESDA!!) Also, did anyone else notice the Marathon emblem on the gun in the pic? I haven't checked if anyone posted about it yet. Just found it interesting.

Thanks Bungie... I quit. It wasn't enough that I stood around till midnight to buy Halo 2. The $50 a year online wasn't enough for Microsoft. I thought I was a devoted fan. You got me for a second but now I get it. Screw the fans when there's money to be made.

these negative post should be directed and microsoft they are corrupting bungie! and making the most loual of all fans buy 360s and Windows Vista! down with MS, same on u MS you dont need any more money!, becouse after when you run out of fans, you run out of money, where you like it or not we own you, and you should respect that MS bungie i love you, but this is going to be a negative post! firstly, i think that you are relaseing the new halo maps too late, we needed them earlyer, and not around the same time as the beta, its too close to halo 3, we wont get a good enough go! secondly, the beta, i love betas, but im personly storngly against this beta (im still going to play it how could you not) but i always wanted to play halo 3 for the first time after i had got it, at midnight relase, come home take time off work and play for 24hours, i wanted everything to be a shock, a surpise!, you se i built halo 2 up so much, and when i finly played it, it was not as good as i had thought (it was still Great!!!!) and im afrade that this is going to take some of that first WOW, OMG ... lol , out of halo but i know that you guys know what your doing and you will do a great job no mater what, and it will make the game beter, im just hoping the Micorsoft is not pushing you into something you had not planed, we all now how MS love there betas now (thanx google) wowoowowoowowowowo cant wait for halo 3, Go Bungie Finsh the Fight! So you make new maps for halo 2 so that it forces more people who want to play them to buy a 360 right?? I can't stand you, Bungie. The word "Sell-out" comes to mind everytime I read one of your supposedly "great" updates. Yea, whatever, Halo 3...It's coming, yea...we know. Peopl are impressed, I care less. I will never buy a 360. Period. First I read that you guys were making Halo 2 for Vista, and I knew Microsoft had you buy the "no-nos". Only reason that IT MUST COME OUT ON VISTA is so they can sell that OS. Plain and simple. Without you, Xbox would've died. So they look to you guys to make sure Vista won't bomb. It'll run on XP just fine, but you say it won't, when clearly when you were first programming the graphics and coding Halo 2 up years ago for Xbox, Vista wasn't out. Wasn't even called Vista. Longhorn was the name, and you guys most likely coded the game in XP, or heck, even 2000. Who knows...Therefore, H2V should really be H2XP, because the original was was made and tested on the older OS, and then coded to the Xbox version and encrypted and what-not. It worked then, it should work now. But I figure I'll just rip Vista somehow, just like my XP I have on my PC. I kinda got over it. But then to read that you guys are making maps for H2, which, lets remind everyone, and, hmm..lets remind you guys since you must've forgotten somehow...that Halo 2 was made for Xbox, and the last time you guys tried to do something that would work with 360...crapped out (I'm looking at you Backwash). You're doing the same thing with Microsoft again. Halo 3 is eventually coming out, but with the lack of sales that the 360 has, especially with two other competitors FINALLY stepping in, Microsoft is getting scared and wants, NO, NEEDS something from the only good company that has made anything worth playing, to suck more people into buying their system. I'm ashamed to know you guys. I regret buying your games now. I regret that I ever had faith in you, for everytime you guys try and "do something nice", you let down a good sized chunk of your fan base, and without us, you'd have died aloooong time ago. Thanks. I'm pawning, wait...no I think I'll just give away my copy of Halo 2.

I fully agree with Fxt_Redwolf. It's a cheap way to get people to buy a 360 for no reason. Halo 2 was developed for the XBox and the new maps therefore have no technical requirement on the 360. I also am very disappointed that Bungie hides behind the Microsoft Game Studios. They know the limitation to the 360 for the new multiplayer maps is completely unfair, you can tell that from the energy they put into pointing fingers at Microsoft. From the gamer or consumer point of view, there is no difference between Microsoft Game Studios or Bungie. They only thing the consumer sees is an announcement that basically tells them that Bungie/MS has placed a virtual and unnecessary limitation on the multiplayer maps for the sole purpose of selling more 360s. Especially in light of the recent release of the PS3 this looks like plain marketing abuse. Other then that, the other announcements and the screenshot look very promising. Good work Bungie but please, stay honest and upright and don't hide behind someone else when you make less positive announcements.

I already commented on this update, but I'd like to point out the visor on Master Chief. Although the rest of the screenshot was great, the visor stood out. Compared to the visor we saw in the trailer for Halo 3, this visor was no where close to being as reflective. It sort of reminded me of those Halo 2 visors which weren't too pretty. So, while it is possible that having such a reflective visor would cause the xbox 360 to overload, if it doesn't, then I would much rather Bungie goes to the visor we saw in the trailer. Other than that though, everything looks awesome. I'll say it again, I can't wait for this game to come out.

I hate being the guy that kills it but I really didn't get that "awed" at the Halo 3 screenshot...now I know it might not be the final version, but if it is...that is really dissapointing...I though that we were in the a "next" gen era....but from that screenshot it looks like they just added a rougher skin...and made him shinyer........
