What do you think of skateboarding? Skateboarders?
I'm thinking of trying skating, I'd like to expand my horizons and try something new besides soccer and playing xbox.
-
cool in 1987
-
playing xbox is the only viable option
-
It is harder then you think and it hurts sometimes.
-
I skateboard. It's teh funz and get's me around where I need to go. And at my high school it's considered cool to do so.
-
Pfff stick pushers.
-
I tried getting into but I couldn't. Not that I didn't want to but I'm unable to because my feet are too damn big for a normal board. [Edited on 01.05.2013 1:39 PM PST]

Cool bro. Skateboarding is really run after you learn your first few tricks. For me that was Pop shuvit, boneless, ollie, and kickflip.

I've got normal feet(?) size 10.5-11, are my feet too big?

Some twenty years now. If you are learning it just to cruise around (no tricks), I'd recommend a long board. They're better for cruising and have a "surfing on land" feel to it.
-
I'm a skater, I've been skating for 15 years now (Since I was 4). It's a good experience with a bad reputation.

And I am hoping to learn skating to do tricks and a bit of cruising, around here mostly everyone who skates just gets a longboard (Most of them live beachside, it's common for them)

Unless I was just doing it wrong which is a strong possibility.

It's fun and is good practice if you want to get into snowboarding. Plus, it's a good mode of transport if you're too young for a vehicle.

In high school I was all about dem tricks. But some pretty nasty falls during and after college, and now I just ride around. I'm nowhere near the level of a professional skater, so for me as I am now, I see no reason for me to be doing tricks. I just love getting on it and cruising down the street. And I have my dog pull me on it now.

But I wear a size 14 and I have no problems riding on a 7.5, so I think you may be doing something wrong.

i don't know but it seems everyone in America hates them thanks to those punk ass skateboarders filming people
-
I think skateboarding is cool. Never tried it though.

I skate every day to lecture and lab. Great way to exercise and have fun. I longboard, and I love bombing hills on the way to class. The look on driver's faces as I pass them on the road is priceless. [Edited on 01.05.2013 8:35 PM PST]

I used to skate, but I sold my board and quit a few months ago because there's just nowhere in town worth skating.
-
I have nothing against skateboarding, but skateboarders can be some of the biggest douches around.
-
It seems cool, and playing SKATE. opened my eyes to the culture surrounding it. I wouldn't try it though: too many hills in my hometown in all the wrong places.
-
I used to skate. I found it insanely hard though, I managed to ollie and pop shuv-it (badly) but couldn't do anything else. Part of it is bravery, telling yourself your ankle won't snap when you try and land, so you just do it. The rest is dedication and motivation, which I struggled with when all my friends were dropping in and attempting 360 flips whilst I was still trying to ollie higher.
