tiny solution to huge problem
Our friend Harlow has enlightened a problem with our community. Rule violators who flies under the radar.
This is not an unsolvable problem if we work together. But how can we [i]bring[/i] everyone together? And for what cause should we unite?

Well Duardo, forum moderators and members of BNet, here's the solution:
The forum moderators cannot possibly go through all threads posted on BNet and check for rule breakers. The purpose of [url=http://www.bungie.net/fanclub/429586/Group/GroupHome.aspx]this group[/url] is to bring the vilotors to BNet justice, at the mercy of the forum moderators. We do this by posting a new thread in this group containing a hyperlink to the thread and the name of the user including the the reason why it should be reported.
Rules:
- If you havn't read the BNet forum rules, do it.
- Don't report a post that is not breaking the rules.
- If you are uncertain whether or not to report a post, don't do it.
Feel free to lock a thread if you see that it has served it's purpose.
P.S
(I know it's against the rules to advertize private groups in the mains but it's appropriate due to the circumstances.)

The report function (as it exists) is democratic and an example of vox populi (the voice of the people) in action. Any attempt to leverage or exploit it (and using a group to intentionally trigger the report threshold IS an exploit) is ill-advised. I can understand the intent, but the application of this undermines the point of the report system in the first place. People have to see the "offending post" themselves and decide to report it or not. Having people crowd-source the process would make it less effective, not more.

I disagree on the "if you're not sure if you should report it, don't." A single, misplaced report won't affect anything, and it is still up to the webteam to carry out any acts of justice. I would rather have the community be a bit [i]too[/i] antsy with the button than shy away from it.

This has been attempted before. It worked for a while, but it didn't last. Its requires a relatively large amount of consistent attention, which, for most people is a lot to ask. edit; WHY THE -blam!- DIDN'T YOU CALL IT VIGILANTES OR WATCHMEN OR SOMETHING COOL AND VIGILANTE SUPERHERO THING RELATED?!!?!! Or am I missunderstanding? perhaps you're telling [i]me[/i] to use the report button. If that is the case then I would say your trust in the report button is missplaced. If every reported post showed in the report queue then it would quickly get filled with unnecessary things. Therefor it takes more than one report for it to show. But I suppose you're already aware of this, beeing mythic member and all. So, thanks again.

Should of posted this in the classifieds; although I do think its border lining a good idea, just a majority of the members that join wil abuse or won't hold a maturity level ie. I can see people reporting people who aren't even breaking the rules. [Edited on 01.02.2013 6:14 AM PST]

I think it's cool that you want to help clean up the forums, but having had moderating experience on a browser game I can say that the internet will always be the internet, the best thing you can do is be a respectful poster/player and therefore an example, nothing kills a troll like a healthy discussion.
