What Halo story would you base it off?
I personally thinks that Ghosts Of Onyx would rock the final scene in the teleporter room would be crazy

Forerunner Saga.
-
I think the best way To start it would either be with halo 3 and then go back or start with the forerunner saga
-
Contact Harvest.
-
GoO would make a good movie, but I'd prefer the games in movie form. Still, dat nuke.
-
The fall of Reach. My favourite book :D

Start with the basics. In other words, the beginning of the Covie/Human War.
-
Contact Harvest would be the most realistic for an adaptation budget-wise, I think. It was a great story to-boot and would be a pretty fitting start by showing the origins of the Human-Covenant war since none of the games go into any detail about the events this covers (sans Halo Wars).

The Fall of Reach. :)
-
Contact Harvest. Carl Weathers or David Scully himself would be a great Johnson!
-
Ghosts of Onyx without a doubt. I would pay way above normal cinema price just to see the prologue chapter of that in movie form. Nothing would be able to contain the epicness of 300 invisible spartans, orbitally dropping onto a battlefield filled with covenant, destroying everything, then only two surviving after a gigantic explosion takes out 7(?) covenant ships. Not to mention the top meter or so of the ocean gets vaporised from the explosion. I'm about to die just typing the epicness.
-
GoO or FoR. Both would be very good. They were my favorite of the books. Glasslands and the Thursday War were also pretty good IMO.
-

-
I wouldn't base it on a story. Instead I would fill the gap that is between Halo 3 and Halo 4. You could add so many stories in that gap.

I'd cancel it and use the funds to make an awesome indie sci-fi mo- Wait a second...
-
Man, any of the main books would be a beut. Even if it wasn't live action, I'd watch it in the Halo 4 Engine.
