What do you think B.net will be like after the launch of Destiny; or perhaps the days leading up to Destiny's launch? How much do you think the site and community will change?
-
Users will be seen frolicking in the forums, giddy with the excitement of Destiny. There will be only joy. As for post-launch, users will be upturning threads out of anger and frustration at the fact that Destiny didn't live up to their ridiculously high expectations.
-
There will be a bunch of newlosers who won't even know who iFarted69 or Garem are.
Posted by: Holden Caulfield There will be a bunch of newlosers who won't even know who iFarted69 or Garem are.
That's the Flood, not the Bungie Community. OT: We'll see a lot of new people who love Destiny as a game on its own, not comparing to Bungie's previous games, so I'll be glad to see new members make this site more colourful.

There will be obviously a huge influx of new members and/or old members returning after many years away from Bnet, which is all good in my opinion. The more the merrier, and plus, we'll probably gain a few members who will become huge community rocks as well. Long live the Seventh Column... Bungie's Underground Army will only continue to grow. :)

I don't think the new generation will start swinging around until a few months after release. I'm part of the Halo generation and that's sort of what happened with me. It'll be a gradual thing. This, of course, is a semi-educated guess. Take it with a grain of salt.

First they will be happy, and later angry. And then the bans will come... After that, people will pointlessly pick sides on a fight that doesn't even matter. I have foreseen it.

I see... A great war. Blood will be spilled, sides will be chosen. Brothers will be made, enemies will be lost. I have seen it..

It is going to be interesting

There will be a surge in activity and new members. Then, there will be complaints that Destiny does not live up to expectations. Expect posts along the lines of 'Destiny sucks, Halo [whatever] was better!' Activity will drop, and we will see some new regular members.

I have yet to really be a part of a community that's waiting in eager excitement for a new IP. I've been here/there for Halos, but Halo is different. It has this fan base that can never be satisfied, please someone, there will always be someone upset because you're messing with their Halo. With Destiny, you can't mess with someone's "Destiny" because it's not theirs yet. I'm not sure if it will all be cherries and rainbows leading up to the launch or if it will be like the Halos, where there's always someone upset with some news they hear about Destiny. Wouldn't surprise me. Since the majority of Bungie fans are fans because of Halo, and therefore they are Halo fans. Naturally they will probably desire something like Halo, and be upset if there is something in Destiny that they wouldn't like in Halo. So you'll probably get a majority that is happy, a vocal group of people who downright hate Destiny because it's not Halo, and some people who will discuss game mechanics in a proper manner, maybe with skepticism, but not outright hate. 'Tis a tricky thing this community is.

Forum activity is going to skyrocket. In the days preceding and proceeding Destiny, there will be a massive influx of new users. The Universe forum will be filled with new discussion topics, and will once again become a hub of activity. I think the community will have an extremely positive atmosphere when Destiny is launched. A lot more active, it'll never be the same as it was in these dark times.

Why do I get the feeling that this "surge" of new members will be anti-climatic?

Random people saying how much it sucks compared to the other games they made, new people from different consoles, console fanboy, and we aren't going to be called Bungie.net we are going to be called bungie.next, unless that is suppose to be a separate website.
