November Fan Art Submissions
Every month in The Gallery, we have a new thread for people to submit their own Bungie fan art. You’ll need to link your submission in that thread and at the end of the month we will gather the top submissions, host them and post them in a top story with all due credits. Yes, you will get mad street credz.
The guidelines are pretty standard. No limitations on size (we’ll host the original file, but we will likely shrink it to 350px wide in order to display it properly on our page). Content... no pr0nz. I don’t care if it’s Bungie related, we’re not hosting pr0nz. Other generally unacceptable items include: gratuitous gore, copyright infringement and/or using others’ work without permission. Outside of that, anything goes. You can submit a creation in paint that took you 2 seconds, but we’re not going to feature it on the site (unless you’re Frankie). We’ll be featuring the best of a particular batch. We’re not limiting ourselves to a certain amount of submissions per posting, if a piece should be featured then it will be.
You should really only submit new art. If you've created art in the past, please don't submit it. I know there's a lot, LOT of good stuff out there already, that's why we're doing this. But we can't have older pieces submitted or we could go on forever like that. Please only submit new works. We're not asking for exclusivity either. Go ahead and post them to all the usual blog, forum or the HBO Misc Art secion as you please.
ONLY SUBMIT YOUR OWN WORK. Why would you submit someone else's work? It's their work, they can submit it.
[b]New stuff for November:[/b] In your post you must have A) the title of your piece, B) the name you'd like to appear with the piece.
Disclaimer: We’re not soliciting this artwork to be used for profit or in any commercial capacity by Bungie Studios. We are simply looking to give Bnet users a place to submit their artwork and ultimately to highlight and give the best of it a home.

I just made this one in 10minutes,more of a wallpaper for 17'' screens, not made to be one of the ones selected to be shown in tha main page but just to know what do you guys think. Good color combos. Its good to see people can still create hand drawn works, not just pretty (or not so pretty) cut and paste junk. That goes for everyone representing the old school pencil and paper method. Not to say computer work is bad; there is some great digital works here. Just call me old fashioned. P.S. This is hand drawn right?.....if not then disregard everything i just spent valuable time writing.

This took me about 3-4 hours to complete. Please note that the pencil came out a lot better than the out line I did in pen. I'm using max at the moment. What program did you use for that? Good stuff in anyways. Maybe for next Novembers one i can have a model this good to submit. For now I'll photoshop. Soon...." I too use the Max. I love the program (probably because I learned it before using Maya with any depth). A few things to consider: A model is never done until it's textured (and lit if it's not for a game engine). You should probably spend about as much time texturing something as you spend modeling it (which I didn't do in this case, and I rarely do in other cases because I'm lazy and don't have a Wacom tablet). Your modeling skills will rarely, if ever, surpass your drawing skills, so draw no less than a tenth of the time you model, and that's bare minimum. Keep going for your dreams though, even if you're unemployed for a long LONG time post graduation. You will never be happy with the job that you SETTLE for, especially if you think you had a chance to hit it big. That said, there are some great pieces of work here, Kudos to all who had the guts to put your (He)art (and soul) online to share with the community. I'm excited to see who Bungie picks to be the best of the month (Yesterday was my birthday, so they have to pick me for one, right?) [Edited on 11/12/2006]
