Halo PC and Halo PC : CE Servers down.
According to [url=http://games.slashdot.org/story/12/12/07/2250252/gamespys-new-owners-begin-disabling-multiplayer-without-warning?utm_source=slashdot&utm_medium=twitter]this article[/url], GameSpy (the server provider for Halo PC and Halo PC : CE) has shut down many servers. At the moment, this appears to include the servers for Halo on the PC. While this is not official, this appears to be the case. Excuse me but no, Halo PC's servers are not down. Halo Trial's is blocked but Halo PC/Custom Edition are running as they always have been.

I'm using version Halo PC v1.09 and the servers are still operating. It appears most of the usual servers are still operating. Although, if Gamespy does indeed shut down all the Halo PC servers sometime soon I will be sad. Yet all the great memories will remain. What a game.

They better not shut the servers down...that would be a sad day indeed. The community is still thriving, the mods are still improving. It's not like H2V where no one plays it. -

While it is worrying, it eases me to know they shut down the demo version. Reason being they must have made a conscience decision to not block the list for both base Combat Evolved and Custom Edition. It certainly has me worried about the near future (Within a year or so) but I feel like we're going to be safe for a while. Even then, someone else in the community will have a backup master server. We also hopefully have enough time to prepare the community for the switch.

In any case, we should probably make the most of the community game nights like early this year...right? RIGHT? ;) -
well if they shut down the server browser its not the end of the world, they included dedi servers so we will just have to use direct ip

They haven't said halo though. Halo doesn't cost money to run at all the servers rely on eachother and this costs no money at all. Gamespy are only shutting the ones that cost money down.

Don't blame them for shutting down the demo though. So many people with hacks and aimbots on that game.

Hey I am trying to register at halo maps forum but I keep getting an error message. Seriously, the Game spy program is prob is running on a 486 someone forgot is sitting under a desk in the data center. Someone with a server, ANY server contact them and move it and it will be all good. This is the thing I have dreaded for several years, some flunkie at Game Spy will be like, this box isn't doing anything and turn the damn thing off, and all the howls and gnashing of teeth won't be able to bring it back. This is the greatest game of all time and should remain as such available to all that spend the 19.91 at Walmart for it. 8 years after the fact it outsells Halo2Pc which is an abortion of a game that proves MS should stay the hell out of PC game development. I'm sorry was I ranting.
