I cannot afford internet. Im borrowing an internet device for my computer. I only can use it every two weeks, once a month if im lucky.
I hope internet isn't a main priority because im screwed.
Money is gonna be an issue for me for a looong time.
Anyone else wish most of the features in the game don't require internet?
Posted by: SPAR7ANB71 I've always considered the offline portion of a game to be the primary piece of the game.
Ditto. I live in a rural area and we subsist on dial up at great cost. Basically we're boned for bandwidth until some sort of great economic infusion hits our county and expands our access to fiber-optics. I've noticed that the shift from campaign as the primary portion to multiplayer has already begun, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Bungie, of all developers, will continue to reward us long time fans with the brutal, epic, expansive and boundary breaking campaigns that they always have.

I've always considered the offline portion of a game to be the primary piece of the game. I've always bought Halo for it's campaign, not its multiplayer. Unfortunately, the general public no longer seems to be on that page, and I suspect that Destiny will be heavily implemented with online abilities. Not enough that they are required, but enough that its going to completely change the game if you don't have a connection.

I don't know statistics, but you have to realise: the only people who know about Destiny at the moment are those with internet access. The majority of gamers have access to the internet and play online. If 90% of the people buying a game have internet access, it's not up to the developer to make it an offline title for the 10% who don't.

It just has MMO elements but is, quite simply, not an MMO. I'm still a firm believer that Bungie recognizes the importance of the solitary experience. I don't believe it will be an online-only game, but I do think that it may be one of those worlds that exists in some sort of meta-chunk MMO world. Perhaps seamless transitions with new players in regions of the world. Matchmaking on the fly, essentially.

It's 2012. You're kind of expected to have Internet access. Keep up or get left behind. That's how this works.
-
Solution: Get online. It's not that hard.
-
I hate it when it's required, I'm an offliner as well.

I'm with you OP, i play on very rare occasion online on XBOX Live (because i don't want to pay LIVE + my regular internet subscritption) so that's why i stick with my PC and PS3... And if Destiny is only online, waiting for it on PS3 or PC will be an eternity.
-
Trust me, Bungie. It isn't fun without the internet. I've been out for 6 days and went from Legendary to Heroic on here. Oh well. But seriously, Bungie had better bear the OP in mind.

I can't imagine internet being required for anything more than multiplayer modes. I think eventually console games will require an internet connection, but that's still a ways down the road. [Edited on 12.02.2012 2:14 AM PST]

like a campaign you mean?

I doubt they would make a game that would require internet. Obviously if you have internet you'll have access to everything the game provides but I bet they'll have some sort of Campaign and firefight. [Edited on 12.01.2012 8:48 PM PST]

It will probably have online multiplayer but other than no it probably won't need internet. Bungie is nice like that.
