If it is a mmofps, please do not make it have custom loadouts where you have to progress in rank to get a different or better gun, perk, etc.
This stuff is literally killing FPS gaming for me and I really am having a hard time finding a new FPS game that doesn't have these things in their multiplayer. I am having a hard time finding a FPS game that really stands out anymore.

Understandable, but how do higher-ranking players feel better about themselves if their arsenal isn't as advanced?

I want to respawn with my tank.
Posted by: Bungie Sam Understandable, but how do higher-ranking players feel better about themselves if their arsenal isn't as advanced?
No this will imbalance gameplay if people who are higher ranking gets better equipment. Remember we are talking about a FPS game not a RPG. They could give them different skins for the guns, different looking armor, stripes for armor, etc.

This is even assuming that Destiny has competitive multiplayer in the first place; We have no idea if it does. [Edited on 11.30.2012 6:43 PM PST]

The experience earned by playing the game is ultimately the reward high-ranking players receive, so giving everyone equal firepower works in that sense as the longer you play the more you learn to improve.

By that I mean BF3 style classes e.g. engineer, medic etc.
Posted by: TH3_AV3NG3R Something tells me that Reach was a experiment for their new game.
Well, it has been speculated that Halo 3: ODST and Reach were tests to see how gameplay is affected with certain elements that were put into said games. However, if they already made an MMOFPS and used the system you don't want/like... Well, it's already done. Personally I think it's gaming evolution. Now a days most people demand a lot of things that were not even thought to be possible 8 years ago. And, well... I trust Bungie. They know what they are doing.

Gun progression is fine, but it should be like in WoW where once you get to those high ranks you have to go fight a boss battle (as an example) to attain that better gun or go and kill something or buy it from someone who did for an outlandish price. Not just "you're this experience level now, so you have an unlimited supply of this weapon..... magically..... space-magic... it's a thing...." ©

I feel like ODST may have been to see if they can delve out of their comfort zone and make a slow-paced, mystery-type game still set in their actiony-space-shooter-guy series. And then Reach was just maybe an engine test or something like that. I definitely think, at the very least, that space combat was a test. ©

If the game has a traditional shooter matchmaking type service I would agree. However I'm thinking that it won't.

I'm going to guess there is no PvP multiplayer. I'm going to guess it's a co-op only game.

Doubt it. ©
Look at World of Warcraft. PvP isn't necessarily the bulk of the game, but the mechanics allow for the mode to exist. There's no doubt in my mind that Destiny, being a shooter, will allow for such a mode. What I'm really interested in is the prospect of PvE and, as mentioned previously in this thread, the possibility for a class based system similar to Battlefield or Borderlands. Why not make it like a Fallout system? Better guns are in more challenging areas? Ammo and stuff is littered throughout the world. You can have RPG elements, but with health and abilities, not in your arsenal.

Yes please!
