First Look

I hope by now all of you have seen the first glimpse of Bungie's new game! If not click on the link below. Click Now at first glance to me this reminds me of star wars. To be more specific the part where the Empire attacks that rebel base that is on an ice planet. So i was wondering what your first impressions were. Did you think like me or was it something completely different.

What bothers me is that people have been talking about it being a cross console game. So does this mean that it will be playable from Xbox 360 to 720 or from Xbox to Playstation?
Personally i hope it means from 360 to 720.
I believe that would be optimal.

In other words, meaning that there wouldn't been any flying around in space. But then I thought about being grounded when i was young. Meaning that I could only go to certain areas druing the time i was "grounded". So we know/think that the story is based on the last city on earth, so I'm thinking that Bungie wanted to give us an open world game, but have set out a boundary that we are not allowed to cross.
But how do you think this factors into what grounded is supposed to mean? Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man's Golden Age. My guess is that the first game is limited to Earth, and that Comet--the expansion--somehow will open up for the possibility of exploring more.
Although what you are saying makes sense, i believe that the expansion will deal with other parts of Earth. In this way the game will tell the story of how the last humans survived and took back all of earth.
I'm fairly certain that they mean the story of Destiny is grounded in our world as in Earth. One of the slides that were leaked said that the majority of the exploration would be limited to our solar system. But just because it's limited to places we know doesn't mean it wouldn't hold new things to discover.

 •
Posted by: the real Janaka
I believe that the reason it is 700 years in the future is because 7 is Bungie's favorite number. And when it says your world i think that means there will be no space travel. You will be stuck on your planet, defending it. [Edited on 11.30.2012 8:45 AM PST]

 • I wonder what they mean with this: "Your journey is grounded in our world, but full of amazing things to do and discover."? At first I wondered why it was set seven hundred years into our future, but then I read that point. Does this perhaps mean that human history and legends, etc will play a part? Why isn't it set in an alternative universe? Nothing I've seen so far looks like something that's grounded/founded in our reality. Camaraderie: Social at its core, Destiny offers a world to explore with friends, both old and new. Hope: Evil looms and dangers are everywhere, but you fundamentally believe that good will prevail. Fun: It's fun and accessible to all, and always filled with friends. I'm very intrigued by the project. All those values are exactly what I hoped the game would inhabit.

 • You didn't miss the threads. They didn't disappear. You can still post you thoughts in those threads and people will read them and probably discuss them. [Edited on 11.30.2012 8:16 AM PST]

 • No offence OP, I like your enthusiasm, but this has already received enought threads. But sure, whatever.. I like what I'm seeing and reading, especially the values the game will try to strive towards. An exciting trek through the universe, filled with mystery and action. I don't care if it's just a marketing point or whatever, the very idea that this is what they're aiming towards makes my all giddy. [Edited on 11.30.2012 8:11 AM PST]
